We the People
In my weekly writings, I often explore the entrepreneur's life, shedding light on the path to success, and offering insights drawn from my own journey. My passion lies in supporting others—sharing my experiences, expertise, and connections to attempt to uplift and empower. But this week, I found myself in a profoundly different position. It was me who was on the receiving end of the most incredible outpouring of support.
It began late Tuesday evening in Seoul. At 10:30 PM, my phone rang. The voice on the other end asked if I was "okay." Martial Law had just been declared in this democratic nation—a startling development that sent ripples of fear and uncertainty through its people, those watching around the world and me.
Over the hours that followed, calls, messages, and texts poured in. They came from across South Korea and every corner of the globe—colleagues and friends reaching out to offer support and advice. Their words of encouragement and care formed a protective wall around me, dispelling any fear and reminding me of a simple yet profound truth: I was not alone.
The outpouring of love and solidarity I experienced during those uncertain hours was overwhelming. It reaffirmed something I have always believed: that our greatest strength lies in the communities we build and the connections we nurture.
I wrote two articles over a tumultuous few days, attempting to capture my reactions to the developing situation. Reflecting on those words now, I realize they were not just about a political crisis; they were about resilience, the human spirit, and the power of unity in the face of adversity.
Today, as I sit in Washington, D.C., my thoughts remain with the citizens of Seoul. I am inspired by the courage of those who filled the streets of their capital city that night and in the days since, determined to protect their democratic rights. Their actions are a testament to the enduring power of mankind's collective will and hope.
I cannot help but think of Abraham Lincoln, who stated, "Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth." His words resonate deeply in moments like these, reminding us of the fragile yet powerful nature of democracy and the responsibility we all bear to safeguard it.
This experience has reinforced my belief in the power of connection. Just as I have tried to lift others in their moments of need, so too was I lifted when I needed it most. It is a cycle of support that defines humanity at its best.
So, to those who reached out to me that night, to the brave citizens of Seoul, and to everyone who stands up for what they believe in, thank you. Your courage and kindness have left an indelible mark on my heart. May we all strive to be pillars of support for one another, no matter where or when the need arises.
