Weirdly Quiet Time

Well, I did say I was consistently inconsistent, so it is no surprise that it has been a while since my last newsletter.

I have been very quiet on LinkedIn for a while as well.

In my business, I usually expect July and August (especially August) to be quieter months in my business cycle.

I factor it into my business model and use the time to self-reflect, develop new ideas and solutions, and plan for the last half of the year.

A “Weird Thinking” workshop and “Self-aware leadership” for executives, for example.


Quiet times are great for thinking time

But this year, August has been much quieter than usual.

More people were on holiday for longer and went abroad to lovely sunny destinations (not jealous, honest).

This has to be a good sign.

People are taking breaks to recharge, and things are getting back to the pre-covid days.

Though some of the current high prices in the UK seem to make it more cost-effective to go abroad at the moment.

Also, COVID has not gone away.  Several people I know have been sidelined due to catching COVID.

It has meant some things for me have not landed or progressed as I would have liked, so a bit frustrating.

I know it is the same for others.

Is it the same for you?

Now that we are in September and the kids are back in school, things will pick up again until December and the Christmas lull.

So, what are your plans to maximise the opportunities in the next few months?

Who do you need to speak to that may refer to your business?

Who do you need to thank for business this year, and how will you do that?

What systems and processes need to be reviewed and improved?

What is the cash flow situation like?

And what behaviours and beliefs do you need to work on, so they no longer get in your way for that business you are building?

The proverb “Make hay while the sun shines” comes to mind.

We need to make sure we are laser-focused and active when we have the best chance of getting success.

The ones that will give us the business that we want.

A business that works for you instead of you working for it.

One that works in the way you work and is truly the business you want, not what others expect.

The one that gives you choice and freedom.

The one that allows us to be in charge of our fate and life, one that is weird.

So, for the next few months, I will not be quiet.

I will be here to help anyone who wants to build a NeuroWeird business.

When done properly and on purpose, networking is a powerful way to build relationships that will help your business succeed.

But it does not come easy to some of us, especially if we act and behave a bit differently from the norm.

Of course, now that I know the rules, I bend or break them entirely with great delight, which gives me that dopamine rush I love so much and makes me stand out from others.

Over the next few newsletters, I intend to share my tips that may help you feel more at ease and confident when networking.

This will enable you to become a powerful NeuroWeird Networker who gets results.

So if you struggle with small talk, being concise in your elevator speech, and picking up social cues, then make sure you are subscribed.
