Why do we suffer?
What is suffering? Is it the same for everyone?
How often do you find yourself lost in your thoughts? Constantly feeling worry, fear, guilt, anger, resentment, grief and sometimes apathy. All those are negative emotions that are not beneficial for the long run. They keep you trapped in the small self (ego). The ego is the one that makes you suffer. The ego can't accept to lose, it hates uncertainty and that is why you try to control most of your life. The ego likes to control, manipulate, and conquer. Uncertainty and ego don't work well together, therefore you suffer from all the voices in your head. You fall into the ego trap and you hear these kind of voices:
These are just a few examples of the voices in your head. The reason some of us suffer is due to us going back and forth with those voices instead of just observing them and becoming aware that we are aware. Once you do that, you move from the ego state to the Self-state (pure consciousness) and that is where you can be free. You are not going through your day running away from the thoughts, this time you are aware of them knowing that you are not the voice in your head.
The ego is necessary for us to grow and reach the higher Self. What tends to happen with some people is that they try to fight, ignore or suppress the voice in their head. They go out every night to party and drink so that alcohol tames the voice, some become addicted to so many drugs, others play video games nonstop, and several do things in excess. What can we see here? What can we conclude about these examples? Excess of something is most of the times a sign that we might be running away from certain thoughts and emotions that we don't want to deal with or face. However my question to you is: How long are you going to stay running away? You deserve a better life than this, you are not living. That is why so many great authors have said something like this: "Your body is living but you are dead from the inside". You aren't living life consciously, you are living your life from the ego state, from fear, guilt and many more negative emotions that keep you stuck.

Stress is having too much of the present, depression is living in the past and anxiety is constantly fearing the future. Since the ego doesn't like uncertainty, we can see that when it has too much of the present, it can't control it and then you feel unease and irritation. The ego cares about how people see you or what they say about you and that is why such thoughts come up: "Did I say something that might affect how my manager sees me? Does she like me?". The voice in your head will keep you wondering for hours, days or even years until you become aware that you are not your thoughts. Last but not least, ego can't handle the future, it has to know everything. What foods won't kill me? What happens if? What if? The ego likes the comfort zone since it knows it and has control over it.
It is time you take back control of your life, no more suffering, no more running away. You came to this world to transcend the unconscious information you carry. The only way to do that is by learning that the ego will try to stop you. So here we can outsmart the ego and just be the observer. Let that voice in your head talk, just observe it. Breathe in and out as much as you can when you are observing. Feel the oxygen going in passing through every organ and as you breathe out imagine all those negative emotions leaving your body for good.
You got this, the power is within you and it will always be. God bless you all and much love from my side.
