Work Is The Reward
That old saying that “reward comes before work in the dictionary”? Yeah, that’s bullshit. Real life doesn’t work that way. I’ve spent plenty of time chasing outcomes — income goals, relationship goals, business milestones — and let me tell you, focusing only on results is a surefire way to end up miserable.
Instead, I’ve learned to love the grind. The process. The gritty, sometimes painful, always enlightening work that it takes to achieve something meaningful. Last week, I spent three days deep-diving with a junk removal company that’s been at it for 17 years. We broke down their entire operation — finances, leadership, values — and built a plan for their future. That wasn’t about basking in some end-result glory. It was about being in the trenches, doing the work, and knowing that work matters.
And when you love the work, the results take care of themselves.
