Product Equity aims to reimagine how technologies are built so that all users benefit from them fully. To help unpack this emerging practice, we published "Product Equity 101." In today’s world of lightspeed advancements in innovation, companies often prioritize getting new products out the door quickly. In this race, they will optimize for a mythical "average" person, and neglect to account for diverse experiences. Offering key concepts and smart practices in plain terms, our primer is built for anyone who's seeking to build equitable tech products that serve all people. How can media literacy help teens? B Cavello and National Association for Media Literacy Education's Michelle Ciulla Lipkin argue that it can equip them for an AI-driven world. "Media literacy is about... teaching students how to think, not what to think," write B and Michelle. "Prioritizing impactful media literacy education will equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to understand the power, purpose, audience, and agenda of the messages they engage with." Learn why this matters in their op-ed for Tech Policy Press: https://ow.ly/j6Sj50Uzz0V #MediaLiteracy #ArtificialIntelligence #Education

Government, industry, and civil society all take different approaches to digital wellbeing for young people. Our Public Policy Fellow Aisha "Adyiam" Kimbrough explains. After surveying the field, Aisha and our empowered communities experts have found that federal and state governments prioritize combating harmful content and creating research task forces, while local governments combine protection with digital literacy tools. Meanwhile, tech companies have implemented solutions like age verification and content restriction. Yet advocacy groups take a different approach. Instead, these civil society orgs center the leadership and development of young people through fellowships, research models, and more. Learn more about digital wellbeing among youth.
