Wishing our employees, customers, partners and followers a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year! While many of us will be looking forward to a break over the festive period, we’d like to recognise and thank those who will be continuing to work to create a safe and secure world, together. We look forward to working with you all in 2025.

  • Someone very special has just discovered that the Babcock General Logistic Vehicle (GLV) Utility variant can carry a big Christmas tree. The GLV is designed to meet the needs of different missions and is an effective, reliable and affordable all-terrain vehicle with a payload of one tonne and space for up to four pallets. Whatever your operational requirements this Christmas, the GLV can fulfil a multitude of tasks for militaries across the world. Season’s Greetings.

  • It's been a busy and productive week demonstrating the Babcock Immersive Training Experience (BITE) to members of the armed forces, defence and resilience industry in the US. We were delighted to welcome a group of schoolchildren and their parents from a nearby high school in Orlando to the stand. At Babcock we're passionate about promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to a new audience, so we loved hearing the children’s reaction to experiencing BITE for themselves and their interest in pursuing careers in the armed forces. #IITSEC #IITSEC2024 #DefenceTraining

  • Jo Rayson, Managing Director for Babcock’s Land Training business, has spoken to the I/ITSEC Show Daily about the Babcock Immersive Training Experience (BITE), which has made its US debut at the event this week. "Currently you probably have a great deal of existing training taking place in a sterile classroom environment. But what we’re doing with BITE is, in essence, putting them into full immersion that represents the environment that you’re going to be operating in. That could be heat. That could be smell. It could be vibration. It could be any of the environmental challenges that you would get from sustained modern combat." If you're attending #IITSEC, make sure you visit us at Booth #871 #IITSEC2024

  • Congratulations to our Proposal Team who won the prestigious Collaborative Teamwork award at this year’s Association of Proposal Management Professional (APMP) UK Conference and Awards. The award celebrates the commitment and effectiveness of proposal teams to overcome challenges and work towards common goals, developing capability across an organisation to become trusted business winning partners. Dave Pollard, Director Business Winning, Babcock’s Land business, said: “This award celebrates all the team has achieved through collaboration to support business winning. It was incredible to have their achievements celebrated amongst their peers across the industry.” Well Done!

  • The annual Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) kicks off in Orlando tomorrow where we're excited to be giving the Babcock Immersive Training Experience (BITE) its US debut. If you're attending, make sure you visit our stand (Booth #871) to find out more about how BITE physically replicates the sensory, cognitive, and environmental challenges of modern warfighting and complex operations, in a dynamically adaptable live and synthetic environment. #IITSEC #IITSEC2024 #DefenceTraining

  • It was fantastic to welcome military and civilian representatives from the US Department of Defense to Warminster for a demonstration of the Babcock Immersive Training Experience (BITE) ahead of its US debut at I/ITSEC in Florida next week. We showed how BITE delivers a level of battlefield realism like no other product – bridging the gap between the sterile classroom and the complex live operational environment by providing unparalleled training immersion. If you're attending I/ITSEC and want to see first-hand how BITE speeds up mission readiness across land, air, sea and resilience operatives and teams, get in touch and we can arrange a demonstration. We'll be in Booth #871.  #IITSEC #IITSEC2024 #DefenceTraining

  • We’re looking forward to the Women in Defence UK Awards taking place this week in London. A cross-organisational team from the British Army, Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) and Babcock International Group known as ‘Reframe’ have been addressing the future of equipment and vehicle support for the British Army and has been selected as a finalist in the Inclusive Teamwork Award category.  In what is typically a male dominated environment, this team is made up of a high number of women who over the course of the two-year term, have built a collaboration which spans different ages, experiences and backgrounds. Babcock’s project lead for Reframe, Cara Kelly said, “We’re thrilled to be finalists in the Women in Defence Awards 2024. Every single member of the Reframe Team from across the three organisations is valued equally and has contributed to creating a fantastic working environment.”  #WiDAwards2024

Today we’re remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country as we show our support to our armed forces and fallen heroes. For many of our colleagues, Remembrance Day holds personal meaning. 16% of our employees have served in the military or have family members who are currently serving – something we are immensely proud of. We spoke to some of our people about what Remembrance Day means to them. #RemembranceDay #LestWeForget #WeWillRememberThem

Next month, we'll host an SME networking event for contractors. The event will be held at The Studio, on Glasgow’s Hope Street, on Wednesday, November 13 and is open to any company interested in increasing their presence in the rail sector. Taking place over two separate sessions – in the morning and afternoon – attendees will be able to hear directly from Network Rail and suppliers about opportunities to be involved in over £1bn of investment in Scotland’s Railway between now and 2029. The event will also have a particular focus on opportunities within Network Rail’s frameworks for Building and Civils and Signalling, Power and Communications. In addition to Network Rail, QTS Group, Rail Systems Alliance Scotland, VolkerRail Ltd, Taziker, Story Contracting Limited, AmcoGiffen, SPL POWERLINES UK and Siemens Mobility will also be available on the day to discuss their work and take questions. Stuart Lee, head of procurement for Network Rail Scotland, said: “We are very pleased to be able to work alongside our main contractors to help smaller companies interested in rail find out more about the opportunities coming up in Scotland over the next five years. “The event will be a great chance to meet key contacts across Scotland’s Railway. We want to help make it easier for new companies to enter the rail sector and we hope to use these sessions to broaden our engagement and better understand what SMEs need from us too.” Each of the sessions will last three hours, from 0900-1200 and 1300-1600 and includes a Network Rail Introduction, partner presentations, Q&As and breakout supplier sessions.
