Chandigarh: A heated argument turned into chaos during the monthly general house meeting of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation as councillors from the Congress-AAP alliance clashed with BJP members.

The uproar began when BJP councillors accused city mayor Kuldeep Kumar of facilitating the illegal lifting of sand from the Dhanas area. In response, Congress-AAP councillors stormed into the well of the house with a poster featuring Anil Masih, a nominated BJP councillor. They shouted slogans of "Vote Chor, Vote Chor" (Vote Thief), alleging irregularities involving Masih.

Amid the commotion, tempers flared further when Congress councillor Gurpreet Singh and BJP councillor Kuljeet Singh Sandhu got into a physical altercation. Sandhu attempted to grab the poster from Singh, leading to a scuffle that disrupted the proceedings.

City mayor Kuldeep Kumar, sensing the situation spiralling out of control, called for a break. The meeting resumed after the pause, but the tension remained palpable.
