We’re so excited to announce that we’ll be partnering with Open Planet for the second year to showcase the work of five incredible African filmmakers. This year, filmmakers are tasked with creating a short film using Open Planet footage to highlight the impact of climate change on health in urban South African communities. This project is made possible by Wellcome Trust, and early next year we’ll be distributing films from Waxxes Animation, Mary Jane, Amandla Kwinana, Dillion S. Phiri, and more. Watch this space!

A round of applause to those who joined us on this exciting journey! This year, we took it even further - training and supporting four dynamic creative hubs to lead local campaigns on the margins of COP 29, amplifying Africa's voice in the global climate dialogue. We're excited to continue reimagining Africa's climate story. Stay tuned for more.

Africa will be THE location to be for climate entrepreneurs. The African market offers the most significant opportunities to build a climate startup. The opportunities are unlimited. On my numerous trips through Africa, I've encountered some of the most ingenious people in my life. From people finding new ways to grow sea kelp to finding solutions to the struggle of non-existing grid infrastructure. In light of today's The Earthshot Prize, which is happening right next to my home in South Africa, I want to shed some light on the companies and entrepreneurs in Africa. There is an exhibition at the Cape Town promenade if you have time to visit :-) It must be a cruel joke that the US election and the Earthshot prize award ceremony are held on the same day. Hoping to see more and more projects that Senken supports amongst the Eartshot price winners!! So let's look at the silver linings --> give an African climate tech entrepreneur a shoutout in the comments! 💚 Companies of the exhibition: Africa Collect Textiles CLAWS Conservancy Solar Sister E-Safiri - Driving Africa’s transition to sustainable transport Ujamaa Community Resource Team Bekia inc Mobility for Africa eBee.africa Rethread Africa Safi Organics Ltd. The Earthshot Prize is landing on African soil for the very first time! On November 6th, Cape Town, South Africa, will host this prestigious event and we are proud to announce that Crtve Development is a production partner for The Earthshot Prize exhibition. As part of our commitment to making key moments like COP 29, the G20, and the UN General Assembly more inclusive, we’re helping to localise and amplify the global climate conversation. We’re showcasing the work of 15 African innovators who were previously nominated for the Earthshot Prize, along Cape Town’s promenade seawall. The exhibition, in partnership with bad mama jama films, Tribe Nation Global, and photographer Tatenda Chidora, highlights the amazing impact these innovators have on their local communities. So, if you’re in Cape Town, swing by, snap a photo, and don’t forget to tag us! With so much innovation happening on our continent, it’s only fitting that this year, South Africa is showcasing African-led solutions at the heart of the global conversation on climate change. 🌍 In today's world, where democratic values are facing unprecedented threats, safeguarding civic space and core democratic principles has become more urgent than ever. Our Founder & CEO, Dr Okito Wedi, recently addressed barriers to civic engagement and innovative governance solutions at the SDG Lounge Summit of the Future during UNGA. She emphasized the transformative power of creativity and storytelling in fostering democratic engagement: “For us as Crtve Development storytelling is a powerful tool of translation and a lens through which to understand what truly matters to us [as individuals] and as a society, at any particular point in time.” It was an honor to share the stage with inspiring leaders like Erna Solberg, ELLEN JOHNSON SIRLEAF, Kenza Occansey, America Ferrera, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr OBE, Daphne Frias, Anacláudia Rossbach, David Miller, Tony Maciulis, and more. Thank you to UN Partnerships for showcasing Crtve Development's commitment to building inclusive, resilient communities across Africa and the global south. Missed the event?
