Did you know? 1 in 3 Australian homes still contain asbestos, and those materials are ageing. This poses a growing risk, especially in the civil construction industry. ⚠️ Asbestos can release deadly fibers when disturbed, endangering your health and the safety of those around you. Protect yourself and others by staying informed and trained. Need more training? Join us tomorrow for CPCCDE3014 - Remove Non-Friable Asbestos or look out for upcoming asbestos training courses: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gGQgC6Au Civil Contractors Federation (Victoria Branch) RTO ID: 3704 #AsbestosAwareness #Safety #CCFVictoria #CivilConstruction #CivilTrainVictoria

Today, we're back with our interstate civil construction comrades for the 2024 CCF Australian Infrastructure Summit. This morning, federal Minister for Local Government and Regional Australia Kristy McBain MP kicked off proceedings with a ministerial address touching on critical civil infrastructure priorities that enable #housing, #energy and #transport. A packed agenda ahead for the rest of the day, too, with a construction economics address from Adrian Hart, culminating in our national Earth Awards (go Team Victoria! ) this evening. #keepingitcivil #2024ccfsummit Civil Contractors Federation National

In an industry historically known for its blokey culture, this week we had the chance to reflect on what it means - and what it takes - to be the right kind of role models in our workplace. The rise in hyper-masculinity in our culture and society has seemingly eventuated in response to men who are feeling they are being attacked for their masculinity. How we approach and deal with that in support of each other in our places of work, as much as our homes and social lives, may depend on how well and how far society can edge back from the extremes and allow for more balance. Our thanks to high performance and wellbeing coach and psychologist Dr Richard Chambers for an insightful presentation👇at our #internationalmensday breakfast. As always, our thanks also to our terrific sponsors who help make these events happen. High-performance, wellbeing & leadership consultant | Award-winning clinical psychologist | TEDx keynote speaker
As you'd know from my profile, I usually provide training that delivers practical, evidence-based tools to embed cultures of sustainable peak performance and conscious leadership. But yesterday I did something different. I was invited by Civil Contractors Federation Victoria - CCF Vic to speak at their #internationalmensday breakfast. I chose to speak about Positive Male Role Models (and the sad lack of genuinely integrated men in the public sphere). This keynote was a passion project. I felt so enlivened developing and delivering it, and it generated fascinating discussions afterwards. In a society where many men feel under attack for their masculinity, we are seeing the rise of hypermasculine role models like Andrew Tate (who was the most Googled person in 2023). I have been receiving an increasing number of requests to speak on positive masculinity. Definitely not what I usually speak about, but there seems to be a need for balanced perspectives on this important topic. Thanks to everyone at CCFVic for inviting me, and for being passionate about this topic.

As the construction industry continues to face challenges attracting and retaining a diverse range of workers, society is increasingly supporting the view that a more inclusive industry will address capability, capacity constraints and, fundamentally, culture issues inherent in construction. 🚧 Statistics show that just 12% of construction industry jobs are occupied by 👷♀️ women, with less than 2% of on-site roles staffed by female workers, while 50% of construction employers have a total remuneration gender pay gap above 25.8% - one of the highest of any industry. (sources: Culture in Construction, Workplace Gender Equality Agency) It's why we're forging ahead with industry partners like Lysander on initiatives such as practical leadership development to address gaps in skills, education and industry capability. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gdbdZK3H Read on 👇 #womeninconstruction #womenincivil #iwd2025 #pathways #diversityincivil #diversityinconstruction #keepingitcivil
An incredible milestone achieved last Thursday at the Women in Civil Brunch. We are beyond thrilled to officially launch our partnership with Civil Contractors Federation Victoria - CCF Vic at their inspiring event. It was truly humbling to be in a room filled with so many remarkable attendees who are championing change in the civil construction sector, alongside such accomplished leaders; Alexis Davison from Major Road Projects Victoria, Annie Kessell from CCF Vic, and Madeleine McManus OAM from Centre for Professional Engineering Education. A heartfelt thank you to Lisa Kinross, CEO of CCF Victoria, for her unwavering vision and dedication to empowering women in the industry. Through this collaboration, we are excited to be rolling out our Women in Construction Program together, along with some additional initiatives, including a dedicated C-Suite Program for Women and, soon to come, a Frontline Leader Program. These initiatives are designed to drive leadership growth, foster diversity, and support business success—whether you’re a small civil enterprise or a large organisation. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see the impact we’ll create together in shaping a more inclusive and thriving industry. #WomenInConstruction #CivilLeadership #Lysander #CCFVictoria #LeadershipDevelopment

🚧 Construction and demolition waste has surged 61% over the past 13 years, while 40% of landfill is made up of construction waste. Not only that, Australia had the 3rd largest material footprint per capita (46.8 tonnes) in 2019, while up to 43% of conventional materials in roads is potentially replaceable by recycled materials (sources: Infrastructure Australia, Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority, Circular Economy Ministerial Advisory Group #CEMAG) It is thought-provoking facts and figures like these that sharpened the focus of discussions about #recycledfirst and #circulareconomy imperatives in civil construction at today's ecologiQ-Civil Contractors Federation Victoria - CCF Vic Industry Lunch to kick off Greener Infrastructure Week. Hosted by our own CEO Lisa Kinross, GAICD, MComm, MOL with keynotes from Kevin Devlin and John Thwaites, it was a fantastic forum today and one we hope will spark more urgent conversations of change all week as contractors, suppliers, government, industry and academia converge to consider how to accelerate sustainable infrastructure.
