As we head into 2025 we'd love you to get involved whether you're an individual or investor - or both! We can't do it alone ... and this affects everyone. #connecting #changemakers #socialimpact #simplifyingcomplexity Nossal Institute for Global Health, University of Melbourne

Just over 15 years ago, governments and development stakeholders committed to #EndPoverty in all its forms everywhere and to ensure #NooneIsLeftBehind. The #2030Agenda & #SustainableDevelopmentGoals brought #GlobalDevelopment objectives in line with commitments made in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. At the midpoint of the #SDG , we asked expert friends and colleagues to reflect on what they see as challenges and opportunities for realising equity and rights for people with disabilities by 2030. This selection of essays to generate interest and debate. Take a read - we hope you find something in these essays to motivate and inspire. https://lnkd.in/gGd7qQEA These essays were compiled by the Nossal Institute and CBM under the DFAT CBM-Nossal Partnership for the Provision of Disability Technical Advice and Services. Shout out and well done to you and all of the team Igor Grabovac! Thanks again for #Cancerless being part of the podcast The Radical ACT of Making Healthcare work for YOU the patient by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Big Ideas and Nossal Institute for Global Health, University of Melbourne https://lnkd.in/gBzYqvCN #Cancerless starts at 21 mins 25 secs ▶️
"The consortium has proven its ability to collaborate internally and externally in a complex, dynamic field, and their rather early career stage/younger age taken into consideration, this is particularly impressive and promising for their future careers and contribution to the field." (European Commission) The quote above is from the final review report on our project #CANCERLESS that I recieved a few days ago from the #EuropeanCommission. CANCERLESS was a Horizon 2020 financed project looking into #cancer #prevention of people experiencing #homelessness. While CANCERLESS was not my first "larger" grant, it was my first grant of a few million Euros and I felt enormous pressure. The process was not easy, not only did we start the project during #COVID #lockdowns, but also had communication and technical issues, issues with #recrutment, dealing with years of #mistrust in the communities...but we pulled it off. I am also very happy that the #EuropeanCommission also noted our "younger age" and felt that this was not a weakness but a show of promise for our future career development and contributions to our field. This is especially important within academia, where very often we are told to "wait our turn". Thank you CANCERLESS Consortium and everyone who supported us!
