Great morning at Croke Park for the annual Energy Storage Ireland conference. I was delighted to take part in Panel session 1 focusing on storage policies to support Net Zero. The need for storage is undeniable as we work towards our 80 x 30 ambition and with the right levers, we are well positioned to accelerate storage deployment rapidly across the island. A critical topic for the renewables sector in Northern Ireland right now is the issue of dispatch down. Generators are experiencing some of the highest levels of dispatch down across Europe, not an accolade any of us wish to applaud. Meantime, whilst generators are knocked down, we continue to import across the Moyle interconnector. Storage, and in particular, Long Duration Storage, has such an important role to play in addressing this issue to reduce renewable energy wastage and enhance grid flexibility. Prioritisation of clear and coherent policy as well as future revenue arrangements will instil investor confidence and the storage sector will no doubt rise to meet the challenge and support the energy transition. #storage #longdurationenergystorage #bess #dispatchdown #northernireland Omnipower Renewables Ltd Released Energy RenewableNI
