ResourceCo's innovative tyre recycling operations continue to grow with an Australian first off the road tyre cutter from Salvadori Recycling being commissioned at Tyrecycle's new facility in Port Hedland. Named the T-Rex, this piece of equipment will play a key role in the new facility's processing capacity, pre-processing the off the road mining tyres for further refinement at Tyrecycle’s East Rockingham site.
Introducing Tyrecycle's off the road tyre cutter from Salvadori Recycling! Have a listen to the power of the aptly named 'T-Rex' as it chomps through mammoth mining truck tyres 🦖 This T-Rex, the first in Australia, has been installed at our new mining tyre and conveyor belt recycling facility in Pt Hedland in WA – the only facility of its type in the country. The T-Rex will pre-process mining tyres for further refinement at our East Rockingham facility, saving Pilbara based mining companies the cost of transporting these tyres themselves. We've been working closely with mining sector partners on improving the industry's management of end of life off the road tyres, and commissioning this equipment is an important part of a more sustainable future. #mining #miningaustralia #sustainability #tyrerecycling

Queensland’s recycling capability gets a significant boost this #NationalRecyclingWeek with the team at ResourceCo commencing the operation of our new resource recovery facility in Hemmant, the first of its kind for the state. Slated to achieve 95% diversion rate, this facility has an annual capacity to save 250,000 tonnes of business and council waste from being sent to landfill. For the first time in Queensland, this site will separate recyclable materials, and then produce an alternate fuel that replaces coal as an energy source for high-energy users, such as cement manufacturers. “This facility allows a whole range of councils, businesses and developments around Brisbane to achieve landfill diversion targets that weren't previously possible", says Henry Anning, CEO of ResourceCo's energy operations. The fourth facility of its type operated by ResourceCo across Australia and Asia, the establishment of the new Hemmant plant has been supported with funding from the Queensland Government’s Resource Recovery Industry Development program. A new life for the old Pedler Creek Bridge 🚧 For over half a century the Pedler Creek Bridge was an integral piece of infrastructure on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. When it came to the end of its life as a bridge, ResourceCo joined forces with Delta Group to ensure the well-used concrete didn’t go to waste. The delicate demolition, part of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s Main South Road Duplication Project, included the protection of the nearby creek and the removal of over 2,000 tonnes of concrete, all of which was recycled into new road base material. Preserving the embodied energy in projects like this is an important part of sustainable infrastructure development, something we’re proudly committed to enabling, for the benefit of our partners and the environment. Effective resource recovery and landfill minimisation is best achieved with cross-sector collaboration and leadership. ResourceCo commends the NSW Government for recognising, and putting forward measures aimed at addressing, Sydney’s emerging landfill crisis. Landfills are filling up with materials that have viable markets for higher-order uses because landfill is the cheapest disposal option; now is the time to recover more of these resources. ResourceCo looks forward to working with the NSW Environment Minister Penny Sharpe and NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA), Tony Chappel on minimising NSW’s reliance on landfill, a challenge that represents a significant opportunity to deliver substantial economic and environmental benefits to the state. 📸 ResourceCo’s joint-venture resource recovery facility in Wetherill Park (NSW). Currently operating with an average diversion rate of 95%, this facility has a total capacity to divert over 250,000 tonnes of material from landfill per annum. Facilities like this have an important role in the evolution of resource recovery in Australia.

ResourceCo's tyre recycling operations marked a milestone moment this week when Tyrecycle joined with Alcoa in a groundbreaking agreement to recycle end-of-life mining truck tyres. With 130,000 tonnes of off-the-road tyres coming to the end of their useful each year in Australia, and only approximately 10% being recycled, we're partnering with the mining industry to maximise resource recovery to deliver sustainable outcomes. Discover more about this exciting development and our expanding OTR tyre recycling capabilities in Pt Hedland on our website: https://lnkd.in/gEpFuH7a
📢 ♻️ Major Announcement ♻️ 📢 Tyrecycle and Alcoa have joined forces in a milestone agreement to give a new life to old mining truck tyres. To mark the occasion, our teams joined with representatives from the resource recovery industry, and Western Australian Government, as the first load of huge tyres arrived at Tyrecycle’s state-of-the-art recycling facility in East Rockingham, Perth. Sourced from Alcoa’s bauxite mines in the Peel and South West regions, Tyrecycle processes the huge 57-inch tyres into crumb rubber, a core component in sustainable road surfaces and soft-surface applications such as athletics tracks and playgrounds.
