🌴 Shaping the Future of Queensland Tourism 🌴 Yesterday, Townsville North Queensland had the privilege of welcoming the Minister for Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation, Hon Andrew Powell MP GAICD, to officially launch the state-wide consultation for Queensland's 20-Year Tourism Strategy. A heartfelt thank you to the 60+ industry representatives who joined us for this critical discussion, helping to shape a blueprint for the future of tourism in Queensland. Your strong attendance, especially during the busy pre-Christmas period, highlights the vital role tourism plays in our region's economy and community. While the State begins its consultation process, our region has been proactive, refining the Draft Destination Management Plan (DMP) for Townsville North Queensland over the past year. With its alignment to State priorities, the DMP is planned for release in Q1 2025. We encourage all industry members to have their say by reviewing the discussion paper and contributing to the consultation: 20-Year Tourism Strategy Discussion Paper >> https://lnkd.in/g_3eTJqc The delegation also visited Palm Island, taking the first steps toward delivering the $4.9M walking trails commitment, a key election promise. This exciting project is part of the Palm Island Tourism Masterplan and represents a foundational investment in creating new opportunities for sustainable tourism growth. Together, let's shape a thriving future for Queensland's tourism sector! ✨ Townsville City Council, Burdekin Shire Council, Hinchinbrook Shire Council , Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council, @adambaillielnp, Janelle Poole MP, Natalie Marr GAICD, Patricia O'Callaghan, Chad Anderson
