Social investment pays off! It boosts skills, employment, social inclusion, competitiveness, and economic growth. The 2024 #ESDE report by the European Commission highlights that #ESF+ investments in Active Labour Market Policies can have a positive impact on employment that lasts for at least 20 years after they begin. At OrientaEuro, we’re proud to support and contribute to these efforts. Today, we’re attending the report presentation in Brussels to gain further insights from the discussions. AI, a Public Good? This is the thought-provoking theme of this year's FARI - AI for the Common Good Institute p Annual Conference, and we are very happy to participate in it! Literally, a WISE sector. There are over 2 million Work Integration Social Enterprises in Europe, employing 6% of the total workforce. These enterprises fulfill productive, social, and training roles. Today, we’re gaining valuable insights from key sector actors by participating in the final conference of the B-WISE project, led by EASPD - European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities and ENSIE NETWORK.

The digital and linguistic divide among jobseekers in Brussels is more pronounced than ever. Yesterday, we had the honor of participating in the "Skill.up" event organized by Actiris, aimed at addressing this critical challenge and exploring opportunities to overcome it. The event offered a concrete overview of the current situation, highlighted by striking statistics, analyses, reflections, and meaningful discussions with key partners. Among them, the VDAB, Bruxelles Formation, FARI - AI for the Common Good Institute and Tracé Brussel vzw. These insights provide promising perspectives for the future, helping us better guide the people we coach towards training opportunities that will empower them to thrive in their professional projects and beyond. Last Tuesday, we were invited to attend the KICKSTART - Action Matchmaking 50+, organised by JobRoad ivzw (integration through employment) in Brussels, hosted at the Werk Centrale de l'Emploi. The participating companies had the opportunity to share their available vacancies for candidates over 50 with job coaches and employment advisors. Tempo-Team , Infrabel, NAOS HOTEL GROUPE McDonald's , StaffingSolutions , IKEA, Carrefour, and AdriaGroup. A big thank you to Mary Houart for organising the event! All with suitcases ready... but not for vacations. 🧳 OrientaEuro was chosen last year for a year-long intensive programme by hub.brussels called "Export Accelerator". Together with nine other Brussels-based companies from different sectors, we were selected and coached based on our impact and potential to extend this impact beyond Belgium's borders. It was a very intense programme, followed by our founding director, Roger Cohen, and the leaders of the other companies. It was run by the passionate and talented Katia Giovanetti and supported by Julyanna Alves de Oliveira and Berry Weteto, who were attentive to every detail from A to Z, including this beautiful graduation gift that can be seen in the picture: a suitcase with more unexpected material inside! This programme has helped us reinforce our positioning, maintain institutional communication efforts (like this post), explore some opportunities, and even start participating in international projects. The programme will have a second edition next year, so if you are a Brussels-based company dreaming of extending your operations beyond the country, stay tuned for announcements from hub.brussels. Leuven's Local Partnership, STEP, was officially launched successfully on June 20th. STEP stands for Stronger Together Empowerment Programme. Its mission is to support and accompany Leuven's inhabitants who face multiple obstacles and help them find a place in society and the job market. With the financial support of Europa WSE (Werk en Sociale Economie), STEP is composed of 11 organisations: vzw AIF+, Arktos vzw, BlinkOut vzw, Eigen Kracht Centrale, emino , Erat, Huis van het Kind Leuven , vzw IN-Z, OCMW Leuven, stad Leuven, VDAB and OrientaEuro. Today, we hosted a field visit for PES directors and experts from several countries as part of the "Effectiveness of Active Labour Market Policies in fragile socio-economic and post-conflict contexts" conference organised at Enabel by the European Training Foundation (ETF) with the collaboration of Actiris. We had representatives from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey, Morocco, Germany, Egypt, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Moldova, enriching the discussions with diverse perspectives. The event was held to a full house, reflecting the high interest in how OrientaEuro measures the impact of our programmes on individuals' lives, one of our key strengths. It kicked off with an introductory presentation by Hanne De Valck from our partner Actiris. We had highly engaging discussions on specific challenges faced by various target groups we assist. Our innovative AI-powered tool was exceptionally well received. The visit also provided valuable opportunities to develop potential collaborations.
