🤝 We believe that meaningful partnerships are the foundation of creating lasting, sustainable change. On 25 November, we were delighted to welcome a Belgian delegation to Vinh Phuc province, Vietnam, to explore Rikolto's initiatives in sustainable agriculture and inclusive business models that integrate agriculture, commercialisation, and agritourism. The delegation visited Vinh Yen Market and a safe vegetable cooperative led by an inspiring young entrepreneur. They praised the progress in food safety standards and highlighted the importance of stronger school-producer connections and nutrition training for school staff. 👏 A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Jasmien De Winne, Deputy Head of Mission for the Belgian Embassy in Vietnam, Mr Marc Fransen, Attaché of DGeo.6 (NGOs desk) under the Belgian DGD Brussels, and our partner, the Vinh Phuc Sub-Department of Plantation and Plant Protection (DPP), for their invaluable support. Together, we are paving the way for more sustainable and inclusive food systems! 🌍✨ Hang Duong #SustainableFoodSystems

👏 The Good Food for Cities (GF4C) global leadership team recently wrapped up an inspiring meeting in Senegal, reflecting on 2024 progress and harvesting fresh ideas to amplify our impact in building sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems worldwide! 🌎 Guided by GF4C Global Programme Director Charlotte Flechet, discussions centered on critical priorities, including: ✅ Adapting to Rikolto’s updated Theory of Change (ToC): Strengthening our readiness to implement this vision across regions. ✅ Advancing Integrated Landscape Management: Boosting biodiversity, ecosystem restoration and climate action, while fostering stronger urban-rural connections. ✅ Engaging the hidden middle: Building stronger connections between producers and urban consumers to support food safety, healthy diets, and environmental sustainability. ✅ Strengthening local food governance: Creating enabling environments for local actors to drive food system change. ✅ Supporting MSMEs: Developing targeted strategies to build business ecosystems that support small and medium enterprises that contribute to solving key challenges in local food systems. 💪 🏫 The team also had the chance to join the GoodFood@School Day at our partner school, Daniel Brottier, in Thiès, and to meet the dynamic Local Food Governance Committee (CIGA) in Bambilor. Supported by FAO and other partners, CIGA shared insights into their collective kitchen, local market management, and innovative food governance models. ✨ Stay connected to see how we bring these ideas to life! 🌱 Nonie Kaban, Mariela Wismann, Kain Mvanda, Pazisma Bernadette Ouattara Wininga, chris claes, Gert Engelen, James Wumenu #GoodFoodforCities #SustainableFoodSystems

There is no escaping unhealthy, ultra-processed food: it’s mass-produced, cheaper, and heavily promoted. Outside of the rare cases where obesity is genetic, it’s not something that just happens to us. It’s the result of a food system that strongly encourages unhealthy eating. 🚫🍟 💪 But change is possible! With clear guidelines, strong legislation, and smart investments, governments can make healthy, sustainable food the norm for everyone. Healthy citizens and a healthy planet? That’s a win-win! 🌍 In their latest piece for FoodUnfolded, colleagues Maarten Corten and Chloé Van Uytven explain how Rikolto is creating better food systems in schools, supermarkets, and beyond. 👉 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/e9wat8NP

🌍 Last week, Rikolto’s Sustainable Cocoa & Coffee Programme team gathered in San Pedro, Côte d’Ivoire, under the leadership of Abdulahi Aliyu, for a reflection and planning meeting. It was an ideal occasion for our colleagues to explore how our programme can contribute to fostering sustainable and resilient food systems where consumers enjoy healthy food, farmers thrive, and ecosystems flourish. 👐 Key discussions focused on developing sustainable food systems in cocoa and coffee producing areas, farmer professionalisation, youth and women-led entrepreneurship, market diversification, and access to finance. A visit to the cocoa-producing community of Daregba showed these approaches in action. 🧐 Takeaways included the need to strengthen last-mile food distribution, support local food markets, and create economic opportunities for women and youth in cocoa and coffee producing areas. 🎯 The team also aligned on monitoring systems, partnerships, and goals for 2025, and … returned home with a renewed commitment to drive change in cocoa and coffee landscapes.
