We heard from the first four finalists in the Fifth Annual Gamechanger Pitch Competition at the Decentralised Energy Forum this morning, competing for a minimum of $25K of seed investment from Valhalla Private Capital. The ideas were truly inspiring: -connect-x is turning buildings from passive energy managers into active energy managers. This software solution sits on top of existing hardware, connecting the building to the "Internet of Energy." They have piloted the solution in four locations. - T.rex AI created the ALEX Node, an AI-enabled decentralised control system to help optimise energy loads and balance supply and demand. Phase one of their first pilot is complete. - Energro Greenhouses, is an integrated power generation solution for greenhouses. This solution combusts natural gas to generate electricity, sells excess power to the grid, captures the waste heat for the greenhouses and recycles the exhaust into the greenhouse, where the plants capture the carbon by absorbing the CO2. It also has a water treatment capability. - Properate has the goal of road mapping homes to net zero. Properate conducts audits of households to recommend a roadmap of suggested upgrades they can install to help their homes reach net zero. Properate Stride is their newest software platform, which helps informed homeowners better understand which heat pumps to select to deliver the highest levels of comfort and energy efficiency. It does so in a fraction of the time of a more traditional assessment. We're looking forward to part two tomorrow and the winner's announcement. We know the connections our founders are making at the Forum will help them scale their innovations.
