Investing in #UniversalHealthCoverage (UHC) is vital for advancing #equity and ensuring the fundamental right to #HealthForAll. On this #UHCDay, we also honour #HumanRightsDay, recognising that access to health is integral to human dignity. This is a time to speak up against inequality, generate evidence, and mobilise action for human rights—because health is a human right that must be protected for all. 🙏 📣Who you are and where you live should not determine the quality of care you receive.

We’re supporting cities around the world as they work to improve access to equitable, quality cancer care.
Info
City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) supports cities around the world as they work to improve access to equitable, quality cancer care. It leads a city-based partnership initiative that aims to improve access to quality cancer care in cities around the world by transforming the way stakeholders from the public and private sectors collectively design, plan, and implement cancer solutions. The approach is built on the core principle that cities can drive impact at national level by crafting data-driven solutions with the support of a network of global, regional, and local partners that reflect an understanding of the unique local context. C/Can was launched by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) at the 2017 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos. It was established as a standalone Swiss foundation in January 2019.

As cancer becomes a leading #GlobalHealth challenge, women living in low- and middle-income countries bear a disproportionate burden in accessing life-saving care. 🌍 Read our new op-ed in Foreign Policy magazine to learn more about how we’re transforming the future #CancerCare and applying a gender lens in three pilot cities: https://lnkd.in/ggK9idPz With the right collaborators, funders, and frontline leaders by our side, we believe our model will make a sustained impact in cancer care—and beyond. 🙏 Thanks to partners like Amgen, Global Focus on Cancer (a US charitable organisation supported by donations from Eli Lilly and Company), MSD, Roche, Siemens Healthineers, and others, we’re on our way. We invite additional donors and stakeholders to join these ranks and make equitable cancer care a reality. #GenderEquity #WomenHealth #LMICs #HealthForAll #HealthSystems #SustainableChange #Beijing30 #PartnershipForHealth

City Cancer Challenge (C/Can), in collaboration with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the NATIONAL CANCER INSTITUTE OF KENYA, convened the Multidisciplinary Cancer Management Course (MCM) in Nairobi. The MCMC brought together 140 health professionals committed to enhancing cancer care through collaboration and knowledge exchange. The course focused on breast cancer—the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Kenya and a priority identified by the local team. Participants explored how developing a strong systems approach to managing breast cancer can serve as a model for improving care for all cancers. Key Takeaways: ▪️Multidisciplinary Decision-Making: Collaborative teamwork ensures comprehensive and personalised care for patients. ▪️Early Integration of Palliative Care: Embedding supportive care early in the treatment process enhances patient outcomes and quality of life. ▪️Breaking Barriers: Timed approaches and personalised navigation help patients overcome challenges in accessing timely and effective care. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the external experts for their invaluable expertise and time, as well as to the local professionals and expert participants for their dedication. Through their collaborative efforts, they are advancing equitable, high-quality cancer care with the shared goal of improving treatment efficiency and patient outcomes. #CancerCare #BreastCancer #MDTs #Cancer

Oncology navigators are champions for patients and families affected by cancer, ensuring that no one faces the challenges of cancer alone. Their commitment bridges gaps in care, educates patients and caregivers, connects them with essential support services, and advocates for the best possible outcomes. Today, we celebrate the first #NationalNavigatorDay, honouring these dedicated professionals for their unwavering resolve to improve patient outcomes and reduce disparities in care. This recognition deserves to resonate globally and not only in the US. At C/Can, we are committed to improving patient navigation services across our network. In León, Mexico, local leaders are developing a Breast Cancer Patient Navigation Programme to enhance care coordination for women with suspected or confirmed breast cancer in Guanajuato State. This project will combine global best practices with local insights to support patients throughout their journey. Supported by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and the INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF NURSES IN CANCER CARE INC (ISNCC), the initiative will involve 21 healthcare institutions and is backed by Global Focus on Cancer (US charitable organisation supported by donations from Eli Lilly and Company). #BreastCancer #CancerPatient #Oncology
