Info
The Swiss Water Partnership is a multi-stakeholder platform that brings together around 70 members from the Swiss academic, civil society, public and private spheres. It builds on the understanding that stakeholders from all sectors must work together in order to address current water challenges. SWP members are based in Switzerland and have field offices or local partners in other countries across the world. The Swiss Water Partnership intends to develop and implement innovative cross-sectoral high quality solutions for a water-secure world for all. This is done by giving the possibility to the members to learn from each other and reinforcing good practices; share internationally their ideas, innovations and knowledge; and by informing national and international policy processes and program designs.

Ever heard of passive chlorinators and their contribution to water safety? In a 1 year evaluation in Nepal, passive chlorinators reduced E. Coli from 80% of taps to 7%! Passive chlorinators automatically dose chlorine in water supplies in-line or at the point of collection, without requiring electricity, moving parts, or daily user input. What factors should you consider while choosing a chlorinator for a system as a WASH practitioner? 1️⃣ Dosing consistency - An adequate chlorine dosage (∼2 mg/L at the tap and ≥ 0.2 mg/L after 24 h of storage in a container. 2️⃣ User-friendliness: depends on the handling and basic use of the chlorinator 3️⃣ Ease of maintenance: Repair needs from previous experiences in similar contexts 4️⃣ Local supply chain: Availability of spare parts nearby in case of breakdown. 5️⃣ Cost: The cost of the chlorine to achieve 2 mg/L Free Residual Chlorine and the cost of the device, On 26 November, Marisa Boller, Loïc Fache and other experts on this topic will give a webinar on the chlorination topic.
