Uniting the global cancer community to reduce the cancer burden together.
Info
The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is the largest international cancer membership organisation in the world. It has more than 1,100 organisational members in 170 countries. The organisation is dedicated to taking the lead in convening, capacity building and advocacy initiatives that unite and support the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, promote greater equity, and to ensure cancer control continues to be a priority in the world health and development agenda. Through UICC’s UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) status, UICC enjoys formal relationships with many UN agencies, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and others. UICC and its multisectoral partners are committed to encouraging governments to look towards the implementation and scale-up of quality and sustainable programmes that address the global burden of cancer and other NCDs. UICC is also a founding member of the NCD Alliance, a global civil society network that now represents almost 2,000 organisations in 170 countries. For more information visit: www.uicc.org

We’d like to thank the World Health Organization for featuring us in their latest news bulletin! At the 2024 World Cancer Congress, the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) united 120 cancer survivors and caregivers to co-create Cancer 2030 priorities, ensuring that policies reflect their real needs. This initiative is in line with our ongoing focus on people-centred cancer care, which is the core theme of our #WorldCancerDay 2025 campaign. This year, we’re emphasising the importance of putting people at the heart of the global cancer narrative, ensuring their voices are heard and driving meaningful change. https://bit.ly/3ZfbX8L

Sweden’s low smoking rates are a public health success, yet the tobacco industry is misrepresenting this achievement to promote alternative nicotine products like snus. There’s no evidence these products reduce smoking rates—and their rise among young people is concerning.
