Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I am so proud to announce the publication of Disability Inclusion @ Work 2024: A Global Outlook – providing a unique data driven global insight into the workplace experiences of people with disabilities, chronic health conditions and those who are neurodivergent  #DisabilityAtWork24 #IDPD #DisabilityDay

Senior executives, including two Chief Executive Officer (CEOs), from Accenture, AXA, Capgemini, Egis, L'Oréal, Orange, Repsol, Salesforce and Sanofi signed the Business Leaders’ Pledge on Disability-Inclusive Sustainability Practices put forward by the ILO Global Business and Disability Network. Thereby they are becoming the first companies to commit to increased efforts to make disability inclusion an integral part of their #sustainability work, including their Environmental, Social, Governance (#ESG) efforts and reporting. When it comes to #disability, everyone has an opinion. Still, many #InvalidOpinions hold back millions of people with disabilities globally from entering and progressing in the #workplace. Oftentimes, people with disabilities continue to be dismissed, judged or belittled. Mostly, these invalid opinions and comments aren't even intended to be malicious. They're well-meaning, but miss the mark, because the person making them assumes the person they're addressing is weaker, more vulnerable, or less likely to succeed professionally and in life in general because of their disability. The #InvalidOpinions campaign by the ILO Global Business and Disability Network puts a spotlight on a number of individuals defying these invalid opinions everyday – asking the viewer to confront their own beliefs and misconceptions that might be inadvertently contributing to millions of individuals worldwide, being held back in the world of work. Most reasonable #adjustments for people with disabilities at #work don't involve a financial cost. In any case, reasonable accommodations are an #investment for enhancing #productivity and #engagement of all employees, including those with disabilities. Last week's "Exploring Reasonable Accommodation for Persons with Disabilities" session - co-organised by the ILO Global Business and Disability Network - at the United Nations Forum on #Business and #HumanRights also showed that there is a need to raise further awareness on the return of investments in reasonable accommodations and inclusive workplaces.
