The Supervisory Board of HSVA is pleased to announce the appointment of 𝗗𝗿. Philip Augener as the new Managing Director of Hamburgische Schiffbau-Versuchsanstalt GmbH (HSVA). Dr. Augener succeeds 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘂 𝗛𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗴, who has successfully led HSVA for over a decade, driving forward innovative solutions and strengthened HSVA as a trusted partner in the maritime industry.
Dr. Philip Augener has excellent technical expertise and many years of experience in leading interdisciplinary teams of experts. After completion of his dissertation "Computation of Wave Drift Forces for Dynamic Positioning within the Early Design Stage", he was able to gain extensive practical experience in the maritime industry. His professional career includes Abeking & Rasmussen Schiffs- und Yachtwerft SE, where he acquired extensive skills in civil and military shipbuilding and his recent role as project engineer for offshore grid connection systems and converter platforms at Amprion GmbH in Hamburg.
"With his broad specialist knowledge, many years of experience and his enthusiasm for innovative solutions, Dr. Augener will lead HSVA into a successful future," says 𝗗𝗿. Tobias Haack, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HSVA. With regard to his future work at HSVA, Dr. Augener says: "Sustainable shipping relies fundamentally on optimized hydrodynamics, while it always needs to be considered together with ship safety. This is a complex challenge, and I look forward to working with the HSVA team and partners to drive innovative solutions in this field and introduce them successful to the market."
Until Dr. Augener takes up his new position by July 1st 2025 at the latest, Managing Director of the subsidiary SDC Ship Design & Consult GmbH , Dr.-Ing. Florian Kluwe, will step in to lead and will serve as the interim Managing Director of HSVA .
