The EU and its Many Transformations 🇪🇺 The 🔟th season of the #CEONetwork was kicked off last Friday, when Ambassador Ulf Melgaard welcomed our guest speaker Caroline De Gruyter, along with an audience of business leaders and diplomats to discuss “EU and its many Transformations”. Caroline de Gruyter, an EU correspondent and columnist at the leading Dutch newspaper, #NRCHandelsblad, and a regular contributor to Foreign Policy and De Standaard, couldn’t have chosen a more relevant topic. She recalled how the EU historically has been pushed by global events and crisis, and how the rapid changes in the European security landscape now are affecting all players. Different regions face different threats, and no country can tackle these challenges alone 🤝 As Europe faces new risks, de Gruyter made references to the eight Nordic-Baltic countries. NB8, as they are informally called, play an increasingly prominent role in the current geopolitical debate surrounding European defence and security, showing that pragmatic and proactive cooperation is the key to resilience 🛡️ As traditional relations are fading, strong member countries and leadership are needed to navigate the present tests. Ending on a positive note, de Gruyter predicted the EU will get its act together. It may be messy at times and slow, but it is much better than 20 years ago 🌍 A huge thank you to Caroline for thought-provoking insights on the current European challenges and to the business community for providing great input from their professional experience 👏 Ulf Melgaard, Caroline De Gruyter, Peter Andersen, Albert Derk Bruin, Ruben Dijkstra, Kristian Bai Høllund, Lauge Nielsen, Bjarke Degn Nissen, Sebastian Peck, Martin Schippers, Wim Wiegers, Rikke Wivel, Heide Ehlert-Jürgensen, Anniek Barnhoorn Embassy of Latvia in the Netherlands Embassy of Finland in the Netherlands Royal Norwegian Embassy in The Hague Estonian Embassy in The Hague #EmbassyofLithuaniainNL #dkinnl #denmarkinthenetherlands #danishbusinessinnl #dkinbusiness #geopolitics #security #NB8
