Last week, our CEO Regina Polanco participated as a judge on the panel for the 9th edition of BIAAF, the Bilbao International Art & Fashion content. This contest is highly regarded in the fashion industry for showcasing the work of young and emerging talents. Out of 1400 designers from around the world, 30 finalists were chosen, with 3 winners selected from each category. This year, PYRATEX® decided to award the runner-ups with a curated selection of our fabrics. As part of our commitment to supporting the future of the fashion industry, we have launched the PYRATEX® emerging designers programme. Through this initiative, PYRATEX® will sponsor materials for talented designers who wish to work with low-impact and innovative material alternatives. Our first rewards have been going to very talented creators Ayumi Kajiwara and Aya Letzter! Keep an eye on our our socials, where we will be sharing the exciting creations that these talented designers will come up with next!

The comprehensive study is put together by Sustainabelle Advisory Services founded by Christine Goulay with the support of various industry experts, . The report, based on insights from 62 expert interviews and feedback from 157 stakeholders, offers a comprehensive overview of the roadblocks and advancements in the fashion industry, specifically focusing on material innovations. It discusses how "Next Gen" materials, which are renewable, have the potential to transform the industry by reducing dependence on finite resources like petroleum, minimizing the impact on land and water, and promoting circular production methods and design. The report also delves into challenges like off-take agreements and investments/commitments from brands, while sharing valuable case studies. PYRATEX® was honoured to be a part of this report and contribute to the interviews.
