Connecting people in a world of need

About us

Crossroads Foundation is a Hong Kong based, non-profit organisation serving global need. We believe that, in a broken world that sees too much suffering, we should do all we can to link those who are in need with those who can provide help. So we provide an intersection, literally a crossroads, to bring both together. We offer four global crossroads services: Global Distribution: This distributes Hong Kong's quality excess goods as needed, internationally and locally. It provides a crossroads between need and supply. Global Village: This offers simulated x-periences of global need. It provides a crossroads between the lifestyles of the rich and poor. Global Handicrafts: This sells fair trade goods from people in poverty. It is a crossroads between those needing a fair income and those with buying power. Global Hand: This provides a 'matching' website for public- private partnerships. It is a crossroads between for-profit and non-profit organisations who wish to address global need.

After a restful weekend and some time to focus on completing assignments, finally had the opportunity to reflect on the 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 held last Friday — on Valentine’s Day! Following the Spring Lunch organized by the HRO, the EdUHK community came together to continue the spirit of "togetherness" with an afternoon filled with joy, wellness, and connection. The Caring for Life and Wellness 2025 Carnival was a vibrant celebration aimed at inspiring positive lifestyle changes and fostering a strong sense of community within our University. This year’s carnival offered something for everyone, with a wide array of activities catering to diverse interests. From engaging workshops and sports experiences to the unique Pet Zone for dogs and their owners, as well as vibrant stalls, the event was an immersive and inclusive experience for all. I am proud that Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Education (CEIE), EdUHK had the opportunity to play a part in this meaningful event by coordinating the arrangement of 25 incredible stalls run by our community partners, students, and alumni, including: - Childhood Is Limited 童年時期有限公司 - Crossroads Foundation (Leonard Dreher) - Hong Kong PHAB Association 香港傷健協會 - La Violet Education Consultants Limited (Titus Chung) - 蝶木Reod, Tin King Sheltered Workshop of @New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association - Sports for Life (Medard Privat KOYA) - St. James' Settlement - Hong Kong Jockey Club Artspiration Academy: Jockey Club Collaborative Project for Inclusive Employment ─ “eXperiencing Delightful” Slashie Project - Watoto Asia - Ten Ren's Tea We strive for wellness not only within our students and staff but also extend our care to society and the world at large. By inviting community partners from diverse backgrounds, we aimed to raise awareness and inspire small acts of kindness that can make a big difference. One of the most touching moments came at the end of the Carnival when several partners shared how meaningful the event was to them and expressed their eagerness to join us again next year. Truly, that was the best Valentine’s Day gift we could have received! 💖 A huge thank you to the Project team led by our VP(Admin), Tom Fong, together with the colleagues across departments, including Betty To, Christa Lam, Clifton Tong, Hilton Cheung, Cindy Cheung, Iris Cheung, Silvia Lam, Philbert King Yue Li, IRENE TO, Bill Chi Ho Yeung, chi fung yong, etc., who made this event possible. Let’s continue to work together to build a healthier, more caring, and connected community. P.S I also enjoyed a lot to make my Arm Knit Emoji Plushies :) Monique Chan Tiffany Hui Cherise Sin Adrian Kwan Hugo Tang

Last week, the LOJEL team had the incredible opportunity to visit the Crossroads Foundation and engage in the Struggle For Survival simulation experience. This immersive journey allowed us to step into the lives of those grappling with extreme poverty, shedding light on the profound challenges and sense of hopelessness that many face daily. Through this experience, we gained invaluable insights into the harsh realities endured by countless individuals. It served as a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding in our mission to foster positive change within our community and beyond. We are inspired to carry these lessons forward and strengthen our commitment to social impact. A heartfelt thank you to Crossroads Foundation for facilitating this transformative experience! #LOJEL #LOJELJourneys #CrossroadsFoundation #PovertyAwareness #SocialImpact

  • A large donation of electrical appliances has empowered residents of a home for the elderly in Singapore. Donated microwaves, for example, help them prepare meals independently and with ease, fostering confidence. These items have been generously donated by a company in Singapore and matched through our online platform, Global Hand. https://lnkd.in/eCnVQH3i https://lnkd.in/eCnVQH3i #CrossroadsFoundation #CrossroadsGlobalVillage #singapore #elderly

[A Day at Crossroads Village with EWB] On February 8, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Crossroads Village with my fellow EWB-HK; Engineers Without Borders-HK members. Crossroads Foundation is a Hong Kong-based nonprofit, helping distribute essential goods—clothing, electronics, bicycles, and more—to communities in over 90 countries, including Hong Kong. I had the chance to work in the Bikes Department, where my friends and I repaired donated bicycles to ensure they were ready for those in need. It was a hands-on, rewarding experience that gave me a new perspective on privilege and resourcefulness. I realized how much I take everyday essentials for granted—things like clothing, laptops, and electronics—that many people around the world lack access to. A huge thank you to Crossroads Foundation for the incredible work they do and for allowing us to be part of it. This experience was both educational and humbling, and I walked away with a greater appreciation for sustainability and giving back.

  • Setting a great example! Letting these pieces come to us helps save landfill space, while making sure we are all taking care of those who have less. It's a win-win-win. Take a look at this list of most-needed items for more ideas:

🌟 Looking Back at 2024 🌟 One of the most meaningful moments for Pointi this year was our initiative to donate used and to-be-disposed furniture to Crossroads Foundation during September. These pieces, sourced from our interior design projects, were still in great condition but were often destined for landfills due to logistical challenges like manpower and shipping costs. As a start-up, we strive to strike a balance between profit and social contribution. Every small effort counts towards creating a greener and smarter tomorrow, aligning with our belief in sustainability and innovation. 🌱✨ Let’s work together for a future that values both progress and responsibility. 💚 #GreenAndSmart #PointiDimension #SustainabilityInDesign Crossroads Foundation

The Mission , The WHY. "All work is boring, if you forget why you are doing it" - David (DJ) Begbie, Director, Crossroads Foundation Hong Kong. He had kindly granted this interview last year as part of my research on building capacity of organizations and for educational perspectives. ▫I recommend this message, as one of the most vital learning for, ✔ for business organizations as well as social organizations . ✔for employees as well as volunteers . ✔for individual as well as teamwork. How is your mission 2025 looking like? Finding the WHY of what you are doing would be the first step. #mission2025 #manjuviswam #happyhaoren #videocamp #topvideo
