During a recent Open Day at Xiamen University, HAECO Xiamen, as part of the Swire Group, took part in a donation ceremony with the Xiamen University Education Development Foundation to mark Swire’s commitment to donating RMB 5.46 million over the next three years. This donation will enable the Dongshan Swire Marine Station to conduct long-term marine monitoring and scientific research, and organise marine education and scientific activities. It will also facilitate the creation of a marine conservation alliance aimed at raising public awareness of marine protection. The collaboration between Swire and Xiamen University began in 2011 with a donation of RMB 5.6 million for the construction of the Dongshan Swire Marine Station. The project was completed in 2017 and has made a significant impact on advancing marine science studies and enhancing marine conservation. During the Open Day, more than 70 interactive booths provided information about marine science to the public. Swire and its operating companies shared their environmental protection practices and charity projects at their respective booths, demonstrating Swire’s commitment to environmental protection and helping the public understand more about marine protection. 太古基金 Swire Trust HAECO #Swire #SwireThrive #SwireTrust #marineconvservation #HAECO #Xiamen

Swire has a long history of supporting education in Hong Kong. Since the launch of Swire Scholarships in 1925, over a thousand exceptional individuals have benefitted from them. Last night at the Swire Scholars reunion event, it was wonderful to see so many past and present recipients from different generations come together to reconnect and catch up on each other’s journeys, inspiring younger students to strive for a brighter future. Attendees also enjoyed a tour of the Swire Archive Centre, where they examined precious artefacts that document the evolution of Swire Scholarships. Looking ahead, we hope to build closer connections within the Swire Scholar community by bringing together individuals who can share their experiences, which will support the growth and development of more young minds. The Swire Coastal Outreach Hub has officially opened! The facility was developed by The University of Hong Kong’s (HKU) Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS) and funded by 太古基金 Swire Trust. Swire has a long history of supporting HKU in promoting marine science through the Swire Marine Laboratory, established in the 1990s and now known as SWIMS. Nestled within the Cape D’Aguilar Marine Reserve, Hong Kong’s only marine protected area, the new hub will soon offer educational tours to the public. These tours will highlight the importance of conserving biodiversity and showcase the cutting-edge coastal research conducted by SWIMS. The facility aims to deepen the community’s appreciation of Hong Kong’s rich marine biodiversity and encourage greater protection of the ocean. Pursuing one’s dreams is no easy task. Dr Nick So turned his academic aspirations into a reality with the support of the Swire Scholarship. During his university years the scholarship provided financial support, giving Nick the peace of mind to fully focus on his laboratory research. Today, he leads his own lab, tackling the critical issue of infertility. We’re proud to have played a role in Nick’s academic journey, along with many other Swire Scholars. Watch the video to learn more about Nick’s inspiring story. If you are a current or former Swire Scholar, don’t miss our reunion event on 11th November. Swire has a long history of educational sponsorship in Hong Kong. We believe that cultivating young people’s minds is one of the best ways to give back to society. Dr. Jonathan Cybulski, an historical ecologist, reflects warmly on his time as a Swire Scholar, during which he pursued his passion for marine science and biodiversity. The Swire scholarship not only covered his residency at Robert Black College, it also helped him connect with a supportive community that nurtured his academic development. We are thrilled to have contributed to Jonathan’s and other Swire Scholars’ academic growth, as well as empowering them to thrive and succeed. Watch the video to learn more about Jonathan’s story. 【Rain Couldn't Stop Us from Volunteering】 On one rainy morning in August, our summer interns, management trainees, and general staff came together to form a special volunteer team to tackle marine litter through a coastline recovery mission. We gathered at Island House, a heritage site now managed by WWF-Hong Kong. After gaining insights into the local biodiversity, we rolled up our sleeves for a coastal cleanup at Yuen Chau Tsai. Everyone was astonished by the variety of litter we collected - ranging from tiny glass pieces to large plastic fishing buckets! One intern shared, "The problem is so much worse than what I learned from books. It’s important for us to take action to protect our planet." A big thank you to WWF-Hong Kong for facilitating this meaningful volunteering experience!

【Slam Dunk with the Pros】 Last week, Taikoo Primary School basketball team has hit the court for a once-in-a-life-time training session led by an all-star lineup of NBA and CBA players! Thanks China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) and Yao Foundation for putting this event together for Taikoo Primary School. And it’s an honour to have CYDF's representative Mr. Wan Xue Jun and the legendary Yao Ming joining us on the day. One thrilled student shared that this experience felt like a dream come true! He is now more passionate about basketball and would keep building up his skills on the court 🏀🌟
