Stove producers from Mombasa, Kakamega, Kisumu, Kwale, Nakuru, Nyeri, Vihiga and Siaya counties were trained on cookstove quality assurance, testing and cook stove standards from 13th to 15th November. The training equips cookstove producers with knowledge on the national and international quality requirements for improved cookstoves including various testing protocols and standards such as the KS 1814:2019, ISO 19867-1 and the Water Boiling Test Protocol. The cookstove producers had an insightful interaction with representatives from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCAK), which greatly enhanced their understanding of several key areas: ✅ Standards in the Clean Cooking Industry ✅ The Role and Value of Testing ✅ The Process for Obtaining a Quality Sticker from KEBS and CCAK ✅ Voluntary Labelling Standards (VLS ✅ Engagement with Cookstove Testing Labs ✅ Research, Innovation, and Development This interaction equipped the producers with essential knowledge to improve product quality, adhere to standards, and enhance their market positioning.
