That's what ICDK is all about! Bridging Danish innovation and facilitating collaboration between public authorities, academia, and industry.
2025 is the year of 75 diplomatic relations between China and Denmark. To kick off the year, we were honored to welcome Danish Minister of Higher Education and Science, Ms. Christina Egelund, to China last week, where she engaged in meaningful discussions with Mr. Yin Hejun, Minister of Science and Technology, and Mr. Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education of China. These meetings culminated in the renewal of two memorandums of understanding (MOU) with the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education, respectively. The renewed MOU’s reflect the growing commitment to advancing sustainability, innovation, and education — areas critical to both nations and in alignment with the current green joint work programme between China and Denmark. With representatives from both academia, industry and government present, the Executive Director of Innovation Centre Denmark Shanghai, Anders Sloth Nielsen, moderated a roundtable in which Danish companies exchanged experiences working with research and development (R&D) in China, fostering valuable feedback and fresh ideas. This roundtable discussion also served as a follow-up to ICDK Shanghai’s R&D ecosystem report, published a few years ago, which explored the dynamics of Sino-Danish research collaboration. The dialogue provided valuable insights into how the innovation landscape has evolved anno 2025, reaffirming the importance of partnerships in addressing shared global challenges. At ICDK Shanghai, we’re proud to play a pivotal role in bridging Danish and Chinese innovation, facilitating collaboration across public authorities, academia, and industry. Minister Egelund’s visit underscores Denmark’s dedication to deepening ties with China, and we look forward to supporting the implementation of these agreements through impactful initiatives and partnerships.
