Promising technique is being tested in Hannover. Impressive to see a monopile come out of the ground in such a controlled manner. Find out more about this interesting project. https://lnkd.in/eJmsw83H
As part of the HyPE-ST 1.2 (Hydraulic Pile Extraction - Scaled Tests) we're testing a technique to fully decommission monopiles from the seabed, which allows the steel to be recycled and reused. This technique is nearly silent and requires no soil excavation or underwater cutting. The tests are being executed at the Test Centre Support Structures Hannover, a huge 10 m deep tank. The project is a follow up of the small-scale tests executed at the Deltares Water-Soil Flume in 2019 and is executed in the context of the GROW Programme, with support from industry partners Delft Offshore Turbine (DOT), Jan De Nul Group, IQIP®, RWE, Sif Group, TNO, and KCI the engineers from the HER+ funding scheme. 🙏 Thanks to Leibniz Universität Hannover and our experts working on these tests: Anderson Peccin da Silva, Remco van den Berg, Alba Rodríguez Piedrabuena, Edvard Ahlrichs, Ton Peters, Ahmed Elkadi (PhD, CEng), Pieter Doornenbal, Manos Pefkos #EnablingDeltaLife #Monopiles #Decommissioning
