    Vandaag heb ik samen met Tineke Meinsma de kadervisiedag georganiseerd. We begonnen de dag met een terugkijk op de vele inzetten van het afgelopen jaar. Het was weer een bewogen jaar met zeer uiteenlopende inzetten. Na dit onderwerp hebben we de personele bezetting en opleidingen/trainingen voor 2025 gepresenteerd. Mooi dat we weer nieuwe collega’s tegemoet kunnen zien. Jan Bakker heeft ons bijgesproken over de ontwikkelingen van #obtccb en de wijze van trainen in 2025. Van Peter Beuns kregen we een presentatie over de ontwikkelingen binnen het domein #paraatheid. Ook zijn persoonlijke ervaringen, op het gebied van #leiderschap, kwamen daarbij aan bod. Het programmaonderdeel leiderschap werd in de middag voortgezet. Benny W. begeleidde ons in een inspirerende sessie over leiderschap van met name de groepscommandant. Een mooie dag.     As a leader, are you coaching your teammates effectively? 🫵 It’s a powerful question—when I ask it often during my sessions with leaders and managers, it makes them stop and think.  Truthfully, many leaders consider themselves to be great coaches, but studies reveal others often feel differently—many leaders rated their coaching skills much higher than their coachees. What mistakes are they making?     Q: How do strong communicators stand out from the crowd? 🗣️🔥 A: They convey their message on MORE THAN ONE level To influence others’ feelings, memories, and actions, you need to understand what each SOI 360 style communicates. It doesn’t end with choosing the “right words,” but also… 🎯 Your tone and delivery – Do you want to reinforce clarity, warmth, urgency, or something else? 🕵️ Interpretation – How might OTHERS understand your message based on their unique perspectives? 💥 Emotional impact – How does your approach make them feel—heard, motivated, reassured…? Here are three examples of SOI styles, their messages, and how they can be skillfully conveyed to increase their impact: 💪 Convince Style: “In my opinion…” DON’T: Simply “tell and sell”. DO: Confidently back your views with data, helping others feel grounded in your insights. Stay clear and appeal to their emotions: You’ve thought this through on multiple levels! 👂 Listen Style: “Tell me…” DON’T: Just sit back passively.  DO: Listen with your whole body and use a calm active tone to paraphrase and summarize. Make others feel valued and safe to share to unlock more honest, meaningful exchanges! 🫱 Follow-Up Style: “I’m on it!” DON’T: Stop with a simple “I’ve got it.” DO: Take clear actions to build trust and convey reliability.     What’s AS DAMAGING as smoking to your health? 🚬😮💨 The surprising answer is (too much) loneliness. Sure—it’s a feeling we all experience sometimes, there’s a point at which loneliness can be harmful.  When the gap between our perceived and desired social connections is too large, scientists have found we face the same health risks as smoking 15 cigarettes a day—physically, mentally, and emotionally. So how can we counteract this risk in an increasingly disconnected, online world?     Have you ever noticed how one teammate’s behavior can influence an entire meeting? 🤔 Picture this: You’re in a meeting, and one of your colleagues takes the lead—they speak assertively, present ideas, and fill the space with their voice and energy 💪🏼 What does everyone else start to do? If you look around, you’ll notice your coworkers start to fall silent, nod, and listen. You witnessed the first law of influence from Leary's Rose in action: 🔄 "Following behavior evokes passive behavior." 🔄 When one person takes control and becomes more dominant or directive, others naturally become more “wait and see” with their communication. (It’s not always a conscious choice; it's human nature to balance out dynamics. That’s why the SOI 360 is based on this model!) And the opposite? It’s also true! Imagine the same meeting, but everyone is waiting for someone else to take the floor this time. 🦗 Silence hangs in the air, almost inviting someone to speak up. Passive behavior encourages dominance—the quieter or more silent we become, the more others feel triggered to take the lead. Knowing these laws of influence is the first step toward becoming more aware of how your behavior triggers your teammates’ reactions. → Are you talking too much and preventing others from contributing?  → Are you waiting too long and unintentionally making someone else take over?
