🎉🚢 Congratulations to LPC for the release of their first nature-related disclosures report – we're proud to have supported them to become the first company in Aotearoa New Zealand to apply the Taskforce for Nature-Related Financial Disclosure's (TNFD) recommendations! It has been Nature Positive’s absolute pleasure to support the LPC team – including Graeme Sumner, Phil de Joux, Crystal Lenky, Kirsty Brennan and Charlotte Jones– in the preparation of this nature disclosure by providing advice, technical review and facilitating workshops. We have been impressed by the courageous leadership shown across levels in LPC and their well-informed commitment to authenticity. We have already observed a governance response to learnings from the TNFD process. We applaud their plans to collaboratively develop the Biodiversity Positive Roadmap with Whakaraupō-Lyttelton catchment partners to transform LPC’s relationship with nature. A well-prepared TNFD disclosure requires an honest reflection on a company’s relationship with nature & climate, providing valuable guidance on focal areas to improve the state of nature for the community, biodiversity and business resilience.
Lyttelton Port Company is proud to announce the release of the first Nature-related Disclosures Report for any business in New Zealand. Our nature-disclosures report, published this week, marks our first attempt to quantify our impacts and dependencies on nature. LPC has a biodiversity positive ambition, with the goal to ensure positive actions for nature outweigh negative impacts. This report provides a foundation for understanding where we need to focus to avoid further loss of nature and work towards improving the state of nature. Our next steps include developing a Biodiversity Positive Roadmap and collaborating with catchment partners to transform our relationship with nature.
