Robotics and Automation (R&A) offer the potential to replace or augment tasks that are high risk, manual and repetitive. These could improve worker efficiency, safety and drive transformation in the BE sector!
Earlier today, BCA and COI-BERA jointly organised a Built Environment Innovation Exchange (BEIX) on Constructing the Future: Robotics in the Built Environment. Supported by Enterprise Singapore (ESG), COI-BERA brings together Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and Temasek Polytechnic (TP) to showcase expertise in R&A across design, fabrication, assembly, integration and programming.
Speakers include Mr Kok Kiang Lim, Principal of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Mr Jonathan Cheng, Chief Technology Officer of BCA, Mr Meng Fai Tung, Deputy Chief Executive of National Robotics Programme, Mr Bo Han Lee, Partner of KPMG and Dr. Rajesh Elara Mohan, Associate Professor from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), who shared useful insights such as unlocking the potential of R&A, fostering an ecosystem of collaboration to drive Research & Innovation (R&I) to market for impact in Facilities Management, as well as exploring academic perspectives on R&A in the built environment.
10 R&A projects led by NP and TP, in partnership with their SME partners were also showcased at the event, with 6 robots on display. This included the Safety Sensors for Scissor Lift, Panel Installation Machine, Remote-Operated Membrane and Coating Robot, Toilet Cleaning Robot, High Load Bearing AMR and AI-Driven Unauthorised Trespass Hazard Detection System.
Thank you to all the presenters for sharing so generously, as well as NP, TP and their SME partners for showcasing their innovations. Not forgetting the active involvement of the event participants for their enthusiasm and energy!
