An Eye-Opening Learning Journey with Migrant & Me! 🤝 Our team had the privilege of experiencing The Prejudice Trail with Migrant & Me, a nonprofit empowering the next generation to build a more inclusive society for Singapore’s migrant worker community. As part of our ongoing Accelerator Project, we took our learning beyond the meeting room and immersed ourselves in their impactful experiential programme. 👣 The trail took us through Farrer Park and Little India—areas we may have casually visited but hold deep significance as community hubs for migrant workers. It was both thought-provoking and humbling to see these spaces through their lens, and we were deeply moved by the migrant brothers we met, who shared their experiences with warmth and openness. A big thank you to the incredible TalentTrust volunteers Benjamin Van Son, Suzanne Lim and Jean Saw who joined us and the passionate Migrant & Me team (Yee See Cheot and HUI YI NG Chloe) for making this journey so meaningful! 🙌 This journey reminded us why conversations and experiences like these matter in building an inclusive society. 💭 Food for thought: What drives our prejudices, and how can we overcome them to foster a more inclusive society? 🌟 Partnering for Impact! 🌟 TalentTrust recently partnered with the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) BAGUS Together team to deliver a two-part learning series, “Intro to Partnerships,” designed for ground-up leaders in Singapore. In the first session, “Establishing Foundations,” participants dove into the basics of partnership building, gaining essential insights on cultivating connections and setting the groundwork for impactful collaborations. Building on that, we just wrapped up Session 2, “Strategy to Action,” in partnership with Bloomberg! Ground-up leaders had the chance to participate in live feedback sessions with Bloomberg mentors - Ashutosh Tiwari, Dean Thomson, Jason T., Kelly Seah, CFA CMT, Pavitar Singh and Rena Wong - where they received practical guidance on partnership outreach—whether rekindling old connections, building new ones, or sustaining strong partnerships. 🤝 A heartfelt thank you to NVPC and Bloomberg for helping create this cozy, open space for sharing and learning. We’re grateful to our mentors and ground-up leaders for their energy and dedication. We’re happy to share that we recently wrapped up a project with Octava Foundation supporting the SHINE Children and Youth Services team in developing a Messaging Framework and Engagement Strategy for their STAR programme! 🌟 A big thank you to our mentors—Brenda Han, Roxana Daver, and Michelle C.—as well as the SHINE team for their dedication and collaboration. Together, we gained insights into what matters most to STAR's audiences and learnt the importance of clear, intentional messaging. This project reinforced an essential idea: successful programmes don’t just share information—they tell stories that show why their mission matters to others. 📚 It was also a refreshing experience for our mentors, who got to team up with professionals from different backgrounds. It was inspiring to see how bringing together varied experiences sparked new ideas. Two weeks ago, we partnered National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) to host a session on 'Intro to Partnerships: Establishing Foundations' catered for young groundup leaders. The session was led by Lee-Mey Goh, our superb TalentTrust volunteer, who shared valuable insights on building impactful partnerships. Through the session, Lee-Mey covered various types of partnerships emphasising the significance of having shared goals and clear value propositions when working with partners. ✍️ We also learned that active listening, building personal connections, and coming prepared with specific questions to understand our partners’ priorities are essential skills for successful partnerships. It was a thought-provoking session, sparking creative ideas on identifying potential partners, cultivating relationships, and ensuring mutual value. It was wonderful to reconnect with our speakers from The Majurity Trust Masterclass! This year, we introduced a new and engaging segment – the Human Library – and it was a hit! 🌟 In the Human Library segment, our speakers became 'Books' 📚 and participants became 'Readers,' fostering a dynamic and personal exchange of wisdom. The focus was on 'Decision Making as a Leader,' where our 'Books' shared candid insights from their professional and personal experiences. 🗯💌 Leaders face complex decisions every day, balancing mission alignment, resource allocation, and risk. The session led to a collective sharing of insights, discussing topics like: 🤔 When do we take a leap of faith with new opportunities? 🤔 How do we navigate resource constraints and gather team support? 🤔 When is it time to step back or call it quits?
