Woohoo 🙌 go Meenal Tatpati!
Researcher and Lawyer: Environmental Justice, Forest Policy and Indigenous Rights, Women and Pastoralism, Carbon Rights, Policy.
I was fortunate to be able to present my analysis of the existing legislation and policies in India concerning the inclusion of the concept of #carbonrights and #carbonjustice principles at the recently concluded 8th edition of the India Land and Development Conference, organised by the Landstack - Center for Land in FLAME University The paper highlighted the need for the inclusion of #carbonrights and #carbonjustice principles into our legislation and upcoming policies in the development of Carbon Markets. This work was made possible by the Grassroots Justice Network Namati It was wonderful to hear the other speakers in the panel, especially Megha Roy's work on the inadequate grievance redressal mechanisms in climate finance. It is crucial for India to ensure that our laws protect and provide refuge to our people as Article 6.4 is operationalized at the UNFCCC UN. Rebecca Iwerks Erin Kitchell Anne Mumbi Njoroge special thanks for making this possible :)
