AfricInvest had an exciting week at COP29 Azerbaijan where we discussed the critical need for increased climate finance. In Africa alone, an additional $250bn will be needed to meet NDC’s commitments by 2030. The potential for blended finance to act as a catalyst for attracting private capital to support climate initiatives in emerging markets was a key topic of discussion. Aicha Zakraoui, our Head of Impact & Sustainability took part in an enlightening round table, organised by Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), which centred on the remaining challenges facing blended finance in the private sector and explored actionable solutions to overcome these barriers. #COP29 #ClimateFinance #BlendedFinance #ImpactInvesting

This milestone is a testament to their dedication to making insurance accessible for all, and driving #financialinclusion in the region. #Insurtech #Innovation #Kenya
Proud moment for Turaco! Today we launched our Kenyan underwriting entity, making history as the first insurtech in Kenya to receive an underwriting license. This is an important next step in our journey to create accessible insurance! We’re now empowered with a greater ability to design solutions that work for every Kenyan. The event allowed us the opportunity to hear words and stories from our customers, our partners, the GM of M-KOPA Kenya, Communications Authority of Kenya, Embassy of the United States of America to Kenya, CEO of Insurance Regulatory Authority, and the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Cooperative and MSMEs. As our CEO Ted Pantone highlighted, "Today marks a major milestone for Turaco in Kenya. We've worked closely with leading insurers in the country, helping them innovate and grow. Now, we are pushing innovation even further to ensure more Kenyans can access the insurance they need. No one should have to skip hospital care due to financial constraints. As a fully licensed insurance company, we can now harness our technology to provide the insurance people want and need." Principal Secretary, Ministry of Cooperative and MSMEs, Hon. Susan Mang'eni, flagged the significance of the event saying, “Our ministry is driven by the goal of creating an environment that nurtures entrepreneurial endeavors, propels economic growth, and empowers every level of Kenyan society. Today's launch of Turaco Microinsurance signifies a significant moment in the pursuit of this vision. Microinsurance, tailored precisely to the unique needs of mass market households and small businesses, holds the promise of transforming lives and enhancing financial resilience.” Niraj Varia Rachel Levenson Patrick Watson Martin Githaiga Cedrick A Todwell Maxwell Onjoro Wanjiru Mairang'a Hamza Mutebi Leona Lillian Abban Mike Mompi Elias Omondi M-KOPA Sun King Safaricom PLC Autochek Kenya Absa Bank Kenya Autochek Kenya Tugende Musoni Microfinance Ltd.
