Do you have an interest in sustainable seafood? If so, then the Sustainable Seafood Coalition would like to hear from you. The SSC is a pre-competitive collaboration platform comprised of seafood businesses and organisations from across the seafood value chain. It was founded in 2011 to establish voluntary standards for responsible sourcing by seafood buyers, and a harmonised approach to claims made when selling that seafood. The Codes of Conduct for sourcing and claims have been revised and the Coalition is seeking a wider range of views about responsible seafood sourcing and labelling practices. The public consultation is open until 17 January. You can find out more information on the website and we'd be grateful if you could share this post within your networks.

It was great to have the opportunity to contribute two workshops to the Future Farming programme last week. The 3Keel workshops, run by Alison Rickett, provided a starting point for sustainable farming methods, landscape management and green commerce to participants who are in the earlier stages of their practical farming careers and those from associated supporting professions. The practical session was an overview of all the areas that need to be considered in bringing in sustainable methods to their businesses and wider landscape. Ali said it was "A great afternoon of lively discussion!" Thanks to School of Sustainable Food and Farming @ Harper Adams University for hosting us.

💡 Did you know that globally the food service sector is expected to be worth over 330 billion US dollars by 2028? 🥘 The sector’s size means that concerted efforts from food service organisations to drive sustainable meal choices could transform diets across the globe. 🥗 To accelerate the shift towards healthy, sustainable diets, 3Keel consultants Julian Cottee and Katie Jones worked with WWF-UK and Sodexo to investigate key actions that food service companies can take to catalyse the shift to sustainable diets. 📊 The result was a new framework setting out how food service organisations can support customers to make healthy, sustainable meal choices – as well as a comprehensive report commissioned through WWF and Sodexo's partnership with 3Keel. ⛈️ Fantastic to see these pictures of a "wild day out at Ainsdale-on-Sea" from Andrew Clark at Merseyside EAS. Also braving the elements was 3Keel Consultant James Elliott. ☔ 🌱 James was there on the ground as part of our work for Natural England – developing processes for forthcoming Protected Site Strategies, as well as gathering insights on how PSSs could help to both identify and address the root causes of nature decline. 🛠️ As well as a close-up look at some of the challenges faced in trying to get the protected sites into favourable condition (see the very wet walk shown in the pictures), James was very pleased to be able to attend a workshop with SSSI landowners and managers. 📢 "It was great to see the brilliant conservation work that's happening first hand and get a feel for the Sefton Coast," said James, "and to begin identifying areas where there are common interests and challenges that can bring key stakeholders together around shared systemic solutions." 📈 Such solutions will help to make conservation work easier and reduce the underlying pressures that currently make it challenging. A great day out in the elements.
