Raising the quality of education advice. #AoEA #EducateAdvise
About us
Our vision is to: Create a cohesive, consistent and quality support system for all schools and colleges Our formal launch will take place on 6th July 2018. We will be established as a not for profit company limited by guarantee, clearly emphasising the professional independence of the organisation. The Governing Board include Dame Kathy August, Felicity Capey OBE, James Ramsbotham, Mark Sanders OBE, Michele Sutton CBE, and Les Walton CBE. Raise the quality of education advice for schools and colleges - a national quality standard for education advisers - a training and development programme which covers all aspects of school support including: advisory skills, performance improvement, governance, change management, organisational development and quality management - a national network and knowledge exchange for education advisers - a 'market place' where commissioners can source education advisers and where education advisers can offer their expertise. We are well on the way to achieving our vision: - We have now trialled, developed and delivered a national standard for education advisers - Our training and development programmes have been praised by the participants. Whilst we have designed the programmes to support the accreditation process, many school leaders have found the programmes valuable in themselves - Our first National Summit for Education Advisers is taking place in York on 6th July 2018. The event is already oversubscribed, which demonstrates a clear need for establishing a national network - We intend to launch the 'market place' in September 2018

An incredible achievement to drive meaningful change in education is truly inspiring. The impact of The North East Combined Authority’s work—bringing together so many passionate leaders and organisations across the region - will be felt for years to come. Exciting times ahead for the next phase of this programme! 👏
Senior Programme Manager, Education Improvement. School Governor and Academy Committee Member. Supporting schools, school leaders and teachers.
Just the most rewarding day yesterday for me and Adrian Dougherty as we presented on the work of the The North East Combined Authority Education Improvement Programme to a national audience. Hosted by the Local Government Association the conference brought to a close the LocalED Project, a pilot to test new locality models for the English school system, which we have been part of since the start. Huge thanks to Simon Day Isos Partnership for the encouragement and challenge. Spoiler alert: the project evaluation results were great 😊 On the way home, the day inspired me to reflect on the incredible journey we have been on, as we now move into the next phase of the work. As a team, we’re not about writing positioning statements or strongly worded letters. We aim to ‘make things happen’ and to make a real difference for our children, young people and families, positively contributing to the aims of the Child Poverty Reduction Unit set up by our Mayor, Kim McGuinness We have the privilege of working with some amazing and dedicated Education Directors and their teams: Audrey Kingham and David Street at Northumberland County Council, Mark Patton at Newcastle City Council Lisa Ramshaw at Education North Tyneside Enid Fairbrother at South Tyneside Council Jim Murray at Durham County Council Richard Cullen at Together for Children, Sunderland and Suzanne Dunn at Gateshead Council Special mention to Catherine Worton from Education North Tyneside (pictured) who came with us yesterday to provide a fantastic overview of the Linking Leaders programme run in partnership with the Newcastle Research School at NEAT Academy Trust, Sarah Blakeman and our Local Authority school improvement teams. And of course to the most supportive colleagues one could ever ask for! Joanna Unthank, Bethan Evans and Jade Coulson Big thanks to our friends and partners who have joined us on this journey so far: Voice 21 UK North East Museums The Key - Inspiring Belief in Young People Children North East The AoEA - Association of Education Advisers Kirstie Page at Launchpad for Literacy Mortal Fools The Difference Becky Jackson FCCT FRSA and all at Cragside Primary for the North East Primary Innovators project Bethan Harding MBE Louise Quinn at Shotton Hall Research School WhatWorked Education Melanie Burgess Declan Baharini Daniel Ford Cllr Tracey Dixon Henry Kippin And of course to the 500 North East schools that have participated in one or more of our projects! The old proverb says, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’. For us, ‘it takes a region!’ I’m off for a lie down…..

To every educator finishing their first full week post-holidays, a big high-five to you! You might not wear a cape, but you change lives every single day. In every smile you share, every moment you listen, and every time you believe in a child who's struggling to believe in themselves - you're being an everyday hero. Remember: those mini humans looking up at you don't just see a teacher, TA, or kitchen staff. They see someone who makes them feel safe, heard, and capable of amazing things. Your morning cuppa might not give you superpowers, but your patience, kindness, and determination to show up for your students? That's pure magic. ✨ What small win are you most looking forward to celebrating with your class this term? 👇 #TeacherHeroes #BackToSchool #Education #TeacherLife
