A little bit of snow can’t stop our events team! Our Willie Mackie Skills Hub in Kilwinning provided the ideal location for important conversations on public sector reform last week. After a warm welcome from our Principal, Angela Cox, invited guests heard a keynote presentation from Louise Macdonald OBE FRSE, Director General of Communities at Scottish Government. A joint presentation and follow-up panel discussion from the three Chief Executives of Ayrshire’s councils was also part of this Collaborative event. A morning in Kilwinning with a group of fabulous public service leaders - what’s not to love? Huge thanks to North Ayrshire Council South Ayrshire Council & East Ayrshire Council for inviting me to their latest Leadership Collaborative last week, held at Ayrshire College, with a focus on public service reform. A great opportunity to set out The Scottish Government approach and work so far, as well as stress the importance of local solutions - place-based, people-focussed innovation that crosses organisational and service boundaries. Delighted to also be alongside Audit Scotland & Accounts Commission Scotland colleagues. Well done to Angela Cox and her brilliant team for hosting the event and welcoming all partners so warmly on a snowy day! #Communities #PublicServiceReform #Collaboration

Ayrshire College is thrilled to announce the addition of a new wind tunnel to our aeronautical engineering program, generously loaned by the Prestwick branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Designed by local expert Ian Adams, this equipment enhances hands-on learning in aerodynamics and airflow analysis - key areas for aspiring aerospace engineers. The wind tunnel was recently showcased at the International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight 2024, where attendees witnessed its capabilities first-hand. This portable addition complements our existing fixed wind tunnel, making it possible to integrate practical experiments into classroom-based learning. This partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration in creating a rich learning environment and reinforces Ayrshire College's role as a hub for aerospace innovation.
