We are excited to announce that char.gy has secured a landmark contract to partner with Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. In an industry first, char.gy was chosen for our technical expertise to migrate 950 existing on-street charge points into our network, growing it in size by a third. Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, pioneers in the rollout of extensive on-street charging networks, launched a competitive procurement process for network operators to manage the existing infrastructure following the conclusion of their contracts under GULCS. This new and unique capability has enabled char.gy to demonstrate a valuable third option for councils nearing the end of a contract. Councils can now opt for migration instead of renewing and replacing their existing infrastructure, saving time and costs, ensuring service continuity for drivers, and fostering a marketplace that promotes higher service quality. John Lewis, CEO of char.gy, commented, “We are proud to have been chosen by Richmond and Wandsworth councils as a partner to serve EV drivers across these London boroughs. This is an industry first, and it represents a crucial development in the way EV infrastructure can be rolled out. It offers councils a greater degree of choice in their partnerships with private companies, bringing healthy competition to the market, which ultimately encourages operators to provide the best service possible to both councils and EV drivers.” We are pleased to expand our presence in London and bring convenient, reliable, and affordable charging services to the residents of Richmond and Wandsworth. About us
char.gy is a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging provider (CPO), managing a network of over 3,600 public charge points across the UK. We partner with both the public and private sectors to accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility. While home charging is ideal for many EV owners, approximately 40% of UK households face challenges due to limited access to off-street parking. At char.gy, we are committed to overcoming this obstacle by collaborating with local authorities to deploy on-street charging solutions. By strategically installing charge points along residential streets, we bring convenient, reliable, and affordable charging directly to drivers’ doorsteps. To date char.gy has secured a £100 million commitment from Zouk Capital and the Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund (CIIF) to expand its network and support the transition for up to 1 million drivers by 2030. Whether you’re a local council interested in collaborating, a private developer seeking charging solutions, or simply curious about our mission, we invite you to get in touch. Let’s work together to create a future driven by clean, sustainable transportation.

Here's your last chance to lock in your predictions! 🔮⚡ Shayne Rees has kindly dropped some hints to help you out - who will take the February crown? 👑 ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e-kmePzf Stay tuned for the results from Zapmap! #PluggedIn #EVCharging #EV #EVCommunity #ElectricVehicles
Helping Britain’s councils arrive at well-informed decisions for their electric vehicle charging strategies for residents
Last chance this month! Do you think you know a thing or two about #EVs and #EVcharging? Then challenge yourself to the Zapmap & char.gy Plugged in Predictooorrrr! Here's a clue to the first two questions... ❓ QUESTION 1: How many new EV sales do you think were sold in February 2025? 💡 Here's your clue... As a baseline 14,991 EVs were sold in February 2024, representing 17.7% of new car sales in the UK. Are EV sales rising or falling? Data says rising. In January 2024 EVs were 14.7% of new car sales. January 2025 they grabbed 21.3% share of new car sales. ❓QUESTION 2. How many new public charge points do you think were installed in February 2025? 💡Here's your clue... In February 2024, 1,989 new charge points were added to the UK's public network. Are installations speeding up or slowing down? The numbers for January were 912 in 2025 vs 1,436 in 2024. We had a fantastic afternoon at the Cost of Driving Electric UK! If you couldn’t make it, don’t worry - we’ve got you covered with our key takeaways. 🔑 1. The ZEV mandate and reduced Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) rates are proving effective, delivering real value for motorists ➡️ If it’s working, don’t fix it - the bottom line is that the government should maintain its support. 2. However, the cost of public charging can eat into potential savings. A smoother transition to EVs depends on keeping electricity costs low. Cut the wholesale costs or cut VAT.... ➡️ The government should step in to make public charging more affordable. 3. While many drivers are saving money by driving an EV vs an ICE equivalent, expanding access to home charging is important to encourage even greater demand for EVs. ➡️ The government should prioritise making home charging more accessible. Discounts for home chargers? Helping Britain’s councils arrive at well-informed decisions for their electric vehicle charging strategies for residents
Here's a happy #electricvehicles thought to start your day. 🌞 If you're in any way involved in speeding up our transition to #EVs, then you're a part of the biggest source of carbon savings in the UK's carbon budget update. (Plus you're also eliminating other exhaust pollutants like NOx and reducing particulates from cars.) That's meaningful work. So keep going! Your country needs you.🫡 #transport #electriccars #climatechange #airquality #cleanair #renewables #renewableenergy #netzero Climate Change Committee char.gy

Happy National Pokémon Day! Let us tell you the story of Pikachu... ⚡️ Like Pikachu, some of us start out a little stubborn about change... At first, Pikachu didn’t trust Ash, it's trainer - just like some drivers don't trust the transition to EVs. But over time, Pikachu formed an unbreakable bond with its trainer, Ash, just as more drivers are forming an unbreakable bond to their EV and vow never to go back 🚗💨 Despite many chances to evolve into Raichu (aka buying another petrol car), Pikachu stayed true to itself - because electricity was always in its nature ⚡ So if Pikachu were picking a ride today, you know it’d be electric! 🔌💚 #GottaChargeEmAll #EV #NationalPokemonDay #DriveElectric #Pikachu #ElectricVehicles

Iconic duos? 👀 Posh and Becks, Ant and Dec, fish and chips... and now think, char.gy and Charge Saint 💞 We're excited to partner with Charge Saint to tackle ‘bay blocking’ - one of the biggest frustrations for EV drivers. This collaboration means: ✅ Real-time reporting of blocked or faulty chargers via the Charge Saint app ✅ Faster response times to keep charge points available ✅ A more reliable experience for EV drivers At char.gy, we’re committed to making EV charging as seamless as possible. #EVCharging #SustainableTransport #OnStreetCharging
Collaboration to solve charging ‘bay blocking’ On-street EV charging solutions firm char.gy has partnered with Charge Saint to tackle the growing issue of ‘bay blocking’. The issue, which restricts EV drivers from accessing charging points, is aiming to be overcome by the collaboration. It seeks to enhance the accessibility and reliability of charging infrastructure by improving bay management and ensuring charge points remain fully operational. EV drivers who encounter a blocked charging bay or a damaged charge point can report the issue through the Charge Saint app. Charge Saint’s monitoring technology will be integrated into char.gy’s network operations, providing real-time data on charge point usage. The integration ensures that all reports submitted by EV drivers using char.gy charge points are sent directly to char.gy, allowing the Charge Point Operator (CPO) to take swift action.
