Disrupt Norwich

Do you know Bill Banham? If not, then set the intention to get to know him in 2025! As I reflect upon my first 3 years in self employment, my gratitude today goes to Bill, the chap behind The HR Gazette , who has well and truly pushed me out of my comfort zone, by providing me with the opportunity to speak at a variety of DisruptHR events over the last couple of years. If you've never attended a Disrupt, it is like TEDx on speed. Your talk is strictly prescribed: 5 minutes, 20 slides, 15 seconds per slide. Do not pass "Go" and do not collect £200!! It is terrifying, exhilarating, and I bloody love it. But I resisted the opportunity for a while- because it was too terrifying (I'd seen some fabulous speakers - Victoria Howell was perfect in her delivery and Toby Kheng set the bar waaaay too high for my liking!!). But Bill encouraged me to give it a go. He gets how important the topic of money is. He knows that workplaces need to do more for their employees to help them make their salaries go further. And, thanks to him I have spoken on numerous DisruptHR stages and events to get that message out there. It's opened doors for me, built my confidence massively (I'm really rather shy, you know!) and, without Bill I'd never have got to meet and work with incredible people like Victoria and Toby, Sam Eaton, Verity Gough, and Lucy Westlake so name but a few. Plus, he's an all round, decent kind of chap. And we all know we need more of them in the world. Outside my comfort zone? Absolutely. Looking forward to more of the same? Hell Yeah! The first Disrupt Norwich talk of 2025 is on 29th January - I'm going to be speaking about FinTech. Why not come and see what all the fuss is about and meet the man in person?! Thanks to everyone who joined us last night for the festive meetup supported by Disrupt Cambridge, The HR Gazette and Cambridge People & Leadership Events.
