If anyone knows Denise Russell, they know that we've been getting festive in the office since November! We've celebrated with a Cookbook Secret Santa, Glass Bauble Blowing, and Alexa playing Christmas music for the last month (we'll be hearing 'All I Want For Christmas' in our sleep!). It's also lovely to see our special Samphire baubles on the trees at our lovely clients - thanks for the pic Maqio! Heading into the festive period is hectic but fun (although thanks Google for yet another core update!), so a big soppy thank you is due to our fantastic clients, colleagues, canine co-workers, and all! 🎄

We've got plenty going on at Samphire for the next month - if you happen to see Mike O'Flynn out and about, be sure to say hi (just don't be surprised if you get roped into an incredibly random, pun-filled conversation!). Looking forward to some face-time with clients! 🚗
Yesterday's Video Marketing Launch session with New Anglia Growth Hub was great! A huge thank you to all of the attendees, Jo Barnard, and of course my co-trainer Andrew Gooding - who is pictured below! Really looking forward to the next session on November 12th where we get hands-on and start shooting some videos but between now and then I am off up North! First up is the #AISummit in Liverpool with Open Awards, on Tuesday November 5th where I will be sharing the stage with awesome speakers and of course the wonderful Giancarlo Erra - link for tickets in the comments! Then it is the relaunch of Disrupt Manchester on November 6th hosted by NFP, an Aon company which means I get to spend sometime with Bill Banham as well as some of the other amazing contacts I have made through Disrupt over the last few years! Throw in spending some time with some of Samphire's great clients and catching up with some old friends and contacts whilst I can you don't get much better than that. Very much looking forward to seeing everyone, getting some Parkin (it is bonfire night after all), and a few bevvies and have a cracking time back up north for a few days ahead of a very busy month!

One last reminder that Mike O'Flynn will be sharing everything you wanted to know about YouTube marketing (and quite possibly some things you didn't) next week for the New Anglia Growth Hub training sessions. And the second best bit is that it's a funded course so you don't have to pay a penny!

Always lovely to check out the Norfolk Chambers of Commerce B2B Exhibition - only this time we got to wander, chat, and inevitably accumulate freebies rather than (wo)manning the stand! Lovely chatting to New Anglia Growth Hub, The Shoebox Experiences, Naked Marketing, Break, and plenty of others - and lots of exciting technology walking (and wheeling) around. Getting out and about at events like this is a pleasure, especially to learn about other Norfolk-based businesses and put faces to names for some of the brilliant companies around. It's also always lovely to catch up with our friends at Purecontent Katy Thompson & Katie Mullarkey cipd

Tomorrow's the big day! Make sure to say hello to Denise Russell and Mike O'Flynn if you see them around at brightonSEO - they will be attending talks, catching up and networking, and hopefully getting in a round of A Proper Chippy 🐟 🍟
Next week Denise Russell and I will be at brightonSEO repping Samphire so this is the standard, *if you're about let's grab a brew or bevvy between the sessions* message - its not often we're both out and about and one of us isn't speaking or taking meetings so it would be good to catch up with some people! We will be attending the Agency Leaders Dinner - Naan Stop Chaat, hosted by the always wonderful Mat Bennett, so if you are also attending I look forward to talking in between mouthfuls of delicious curry! Plus who doesn't love Brighton in October... I can feel the bracing sea breeze already! Photo credit to some random thread on Reddit, to make the post a little more interesting... #BrightonSEO

We've got lots events lined up this autumn, with the Samphire team leading/attending workshops, awards, and talks! 🍁 Catch us leading a number of workshop sessions with New Anglia Growth Hub with the first Video Marketing one just around the corner. Say hello to us at the Norfolk Women's Marketing Network Awards, and stop us for a chat at Disrupt Norwich in November. We look forward to meeting people, hearing insights and making the most of everything that the Fine City of Norwich has to offer! Some of the team will also be at brightonSEO to catch up with networks, meet new people, and maybe pick up a tip (and a chip) or two! 🏖

The news that Google is no longer planning to remove third party cookie functionality from Chrome has sent ripples of relief, shared eye rolls and wry chuckles around the #marketing community. Surprise! But... Google Consent Mode is still a thing. And it's a thing that you need to have dealt with by Thursday if you run ads. From 31st July 2024, if you're running Google ads in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, you need to be offering cookie consent in line with the Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) via a Google approved Consent Management Platform (CMP) or, by default, you can only use programmatic ads. You'll probably have seen the alerts popping up in your GA4, Ad Manager or AdSense accounts. The good news is - it's fairly easy to implement this using Tag Manager via your CMP of choice. The bad news is - while it "works out of the box", it also kind of doesn't. We are finding little headaches with almost every install. So, if you run ads, please do check that you're compliant (and that you have setup your default so its not "no to everything"). If you don't run ads but you think you might one day, we'd strongly suggest that you get this sorted now so that when you're asked to get a campaign live by the weekend - which is always how it happens - you have one less thing to be thinking about.
