What a thoroughly enjoyable year we have had at My Staff Shop, with so many new connections made and partnerships forged. Big shout-out to our gift card provider, Tillo, who has been an absolute pleasure to work with, and the amazing team at Samphire (Denise Russell, Mike O'Flynn and Amelia Dzioba - you're the best), and Octopus Electric Vehicles and The People Experience Hub who we just love to collaborate with! We have had the opportunity to represent our company at the best industry events with Jamie Keeling, Verity Gough, Jonathan Breakell, David Cartlidge and Marc Tooth giving talks and pushing themselves outside their comfort zone. We are super proud to have organised a very successful #DisruptHRBirmingham in September, and also were also a part of Kul Mahay's first ever #HumanCentredLeadershipConference. We extend a huge thank you to all our speakers who stepped up (quite literally) and made us proud! We hope you enjoyed the experience as well. Our partnership with Bill Banham from The HR Gazette has been instrumental - thank you for your support and guidance! While our collab with the brilliant team at re:find - Interim and Executive Search has helped us build an inspirational HR community in Birmingham and the Midlands. More of this to come in 2025! There have been so many incredible industry experts that we have had the pleasure of meeting over the course of the year (too many to name, but you know who you are!) and we hope to deepen these connections further as we approach 2025. The My Staff Shop team, from tech, accounts and customer services, to sales, marketing, design, and the benefits consultants out in the field, have worked tirelessly to bring the best employee benefits to our clients and Members in our employee-owned business, as anyone who works with us will attest to. Grief Awareness Week 2024 National Grief Awareness Week helps businesses recognise the importance of acknowledging and addressing loss and acting compassionately. Loss is a part of life, but trying to carry on when it is the last thing you feel you want to do, can be a very difficult position to find yourself in. Each person is different, while some people may not want time off, preferring to keep busy, for many people, grief can completely overwhelm them. However, there are ways that HR can help. 👂 An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) can be a helpful tool for employees who are struggling dealing with overwhelming feelings of grief. ☎️ Signpost to external resources such as helplines where they can talk in confidence to professionals 📝 Having a Bereavement Leave policy in place can give employees time off without fear of guilt 💬 Engaging in confidential, empathetic, open discussions shows the employee that the business supports them during the grief period. ⏲️ Offer time away from the workplace and manage expectations for the employee's return to work 🗣️ Create a working environment where people are comfortable talking about grief. #GriefAwareness #SupportingGrief #GriefJourney #EmbracingGrief #YouAreNotAlone #GriefSupport
