There is always something new to see and do on the estate whether that is inside the Hall, in the five acres of gardens, one of our events, or on one of the estate walks. Oink Oink! 🐽 This month in our #DoddingtonDiary podcast, we’re thrilled to introduce you to some more new arrivals to Wilder Doddington. Not ponies this time, but pigs 🐖 Meet our three new curly-coated Mangalitsa pigs, the latest additions to our team of ‘ecosystem engineers.’ Like our wild Exmoor ponies, rare breed Lincoln Red cattle and existing pigs, this new trio will be free to roam as their natural behaviours help shape the landscape 🌿 As they rootle the ground in search of tasty titbits like roots, grubs and fungi, they create vital new habitats and enrich the biodiversity of #WilderDoddington. Shortly after their arrival, Melvyn joined Isobel for an official introduction to these three little pigs as they embark on their exciting wilder journey. 🎙️ Listen now: https://lnkd.in/ejEnJk-f

We recently welcomed 15 Young Darwin Scholars to #WilderDoddington in partnership with The Field Studies Council. They spent a week immersing themselves in learning about the biodiversity of Doddington and the climate crisis 🌎 Together we explored the challenges we face, how #WilderDoddington is making a difference and the steps we can take to secure a better future for nature 🌿 Working with our experienced Wilder team the scholars gained hands on experience of freshwater invertebrate surveying, learned about grazing herbivores and their management, vegetation succession and met the Wilder Doddington keystone species. We are all inspired to see such bright minds committed to make positive change. We wish all our scholars the best in their future career choices. We are excited to see where their journeys will take them and hope to cross paths again in their professional capacities. #WilderWednesday #WildlifeWednesday #YoungDarwinScholarship The National Lottery Heritage Fund #NationalLottery #HeritageFund
