Major coup for Liverpool City Region as prestigious science conference ‘comes home’! Liverpool is to host the world’s largest particle accelerator conference – beating strong international competition to bring the prestigious event ‘home’. Global experts will converge on ACC Liverpool for the International Particle Accelerator Conference 2029 (IPAC'29) to discuss cutting-edge research and innovation in a scientific field that’s used to fight cancer and find clean energy as well as further our understanding of the universe. University of Liverpool Head of Accelerator Science Professor Carsten P. Welsch played a pivotal role in securing IPAC'29 and said the decision to stage the event in the ‘birthplace of particle accelerators’ was a ‘dream come true’. On 4th December we took #LiverpoolCityRegion to London with a little help from our friends, partners, clients and guests! 🤩 We were joined by an incredible line-up of venue, accommodation and supplier partners from across the Liverpool City Region to present the very best our destination has to offer for business and conference events to London based agency, associations and corporate clients. This year's Liverpool Convention Bureau showcase was in The Ned & Ned's Club and we couldn't have picked a more fitting venue. #DidYouKnow The Ned shares some history with Liverpool? The Tapestry room where the dinner was held featured a large tapestry on the walls and was created in 1929 at Lee’s Tapestry Works in Birkenhead. The intricate design pays homage to craftsmanship rooted in the Liverpool City Region. The room’s warmth and elegance made it the perfect setting to celebrate the year’s successes while embracing the festive spirit. Liverpool has made climate change history, as the world's first UN 'Accelerator City'! 🌎 UN officials bestowed the honour today in recognition of the city's pioneering work at day one of the Expedition One event today. The title comes in recognition of Liverpool’s commitment to rapidly decarbonise the live music and TV/Film production sectors – both vital parts of the City’s economy. Members of the public are being encouraged to attend day two of the free event, #ExpeditionOne, that is taking place tomorrow. They can be in the audience as thought-provoking podcasts, including BBC Radio 4’s Rare Earth, and ZeroCarbonista with Ecotricity founder Dale Vince are recorded.
