About us

Welcome to QODA: working hard to meet the needs of our clients and all those who use the buildings we help to create. We are a highly experienced team of engineering consultants specialising in bringing the human touch to mechanical, electrical and sustainable areas of building design. Set up in 2011 by Nick Carter and Matt Tyrrell, QODA now has offices in Oxfordshire, London, Bristol, Norwich, and Cambridge. Everyone who works for our team shares our vision for a more human approach to design and construction. Our key skills centre around engineering in the built environment. We help our clients solve development issues such as infrastructure planning, building design and refurbishment by giving expert advice and design support. Our work covers everything from initial surveys and analysis, modelling, detailed design and beyond. We cover a variety of different sectors: education, commercial, conservation, hotels, sport & leisure, residential, healthcare, and community. Our team has grown substantially to include expertise in all the key areas of building services, but we still retain the principles and energy of a start-up. That means always being able to offer our clients a hands-on service at a senior level. Our dedication to client service and our ‘can do’ attitude is summed up by our light-hearted motto: “the impossible we can do for you immediately, miracles take a little longer”.

We’re proud to announce the successful Passivhaus certification of Agar Grove Phase 1c, comprising 125 apartments and a commercial unit. When complete, this Camden Council development will deliver almost 500 new homes, setting a benchmark for sustainable living. QODA provided Passivhaus compliance support throughout the 3-year construction process, working closely with the main contractor, The Hill Group. Our role included regular site visits and delivering the photographic and documentary evidence required by WARM, the Passivhaus Certifier. Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving this milestone. This is a fantastic step toward delivering sustainable, energy-efficient homes for the Camden community. We are now assisting the Hill Group again on the next Phase 2A. The scheme consists of 95 units split across two towers. One 7 storeys high and another 18 storeys, linked by a double height central foyer. • Today, our Head of Sustainability, Rob Buckley is at the University of Nottingham, having an inspiring session with Year 4 Architecture and Engineering students. Invited to share his expertise in environmental design, Rob is working closely with the students as part of their final-year project development. During today’s session, Rob helped students: 🔹 Explore site-specific environmental challenges. 🔹 Quantify their design ideas to inform their projects. 🔹 Embed sustainability as a core part of their architectural vision. It’s fantastic to see Rob empowering the next generation of architects and engineers to prioritise sustainability in their designs, and to hear the innovative ideas of these talented students. He’s already looking forward to returning in March to see how their work progresses and to support them further as they refine their final projects! University of Nottingham Faculty of Engineering
