It was great to be home in Brighton last week, delivering Split Banana's interactive 'Consensual Practices' talk at BHASVIC (Brighton Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College)'s Year 13 Conference. Thanks Joshua Speer and Alison Cousens for your fab support on the day! We received some wonderful feedback including "it's the best sex education I've had so far", "you included young people’s voices and made it relevant", and "good because no assumptions about us or shame!" I think it landed well because we moved away from consent as an abstract transactional concept, towards exploring how people *actually* communicate their boundaries and preferences in different types of relationships and contexts, as well as what might make this difficult. One example - we asked students to submit suggestions for language someone might use at different points on a spectrum of desire - from “can't wait”, “OMG yes definitely” and “hell yeahz 🔥🔥🔥” - to “sure I could give it a try” “Mmm I don’t really mind”, “if you want” - to “nah mate”, “Umm not sure”, “I'm not feeling it" - and unpacked these together. If you want to learn more about activities like this and how to level up your approach to this topics, join me for this mini taster training on developing 'A Culture of Consent' on 3rd December 3:15 PM - 4:45 PM  https://lnkd.in/eEY-fhyK
