It's been a pleasure to welcome Tom as our new Applications Chemist What is your Background? I studied for my Masters in Chemistry at the University of Bristol, with a year’s placement at the University of British Columbia. After that, I made the move north to the University of Manchester where I carried out my PhD in Materials Science – studying the synthesis and application of polymeric catalysts for CO2 activation and transformations. Following my PhD studies, I moved to Paris to work for Dioxycle as an R&D Polymer Chemist, where I took part in the development of aimed at converting industrial carbon emissions. After nearly 2 years in Paris, I was looking for a new challenge in climate tech – so I made the move back to the UK (down south this time!) to join ViridiCO2. What is your Project Involvement? At ViridiCO2 I will be joining the applications team, looking to develop new products using our novel technology which can both enhance their performance and use CO2 as a feedstock. What are your Future Hopes? I’m motivated by the opportunity to combine my research skills with the challenges in climate-related research – joining ViridiCO2 will give me the opportunity to continue this journey! What is your favourite TV show? Peep Show or The US Office
