We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich to celebrate the opening of the brand-new Community Centre at Greenwich Millennium Village last week! This project, a joint venture between Vistry Group and Taylor Wimpey plc, in association with The Mayor of London, marks a key milestone in our commitment to delivering quality homes and vibrant community spaces. To commemorate the occasion, Cllr Jit Ranabhat unveiled a plaque and shared a few words. We were delighted to have key stakeholders present, including Taylor Wimpey plc, London Development Trust and counsellors from Royal Borough of Greenwich, all supporting our vision for this development. The new Community Centre offers residents a central hub to meet, socialise, and stay active. With a multi-purpose hall, meeting rooms, fitness area, and spaces for educational and recreational activities, it’s designed with community needs in mind. Here’s to the success of the Community Centre and many more community-driven spaces to come!

Vistry Group has once again secured Gold in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. This five-year revalidation acknowledges the efforts that we put into supporting the armed forces community – those who serve, those who have served and all their families. Since pledging our support for the armed forces and becoming a covenant signatory, our commitment continues to strengthen and grow. Vistry is intrinsically linked to the armed forces, with veterans and reservists working across our sites and offices, and we continue to join with organisations such as Buildforce and Building Heroes to support veterans into the industry. The revalidation highlights our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace and our support to implementing forces-friendly initiatives into the business.

Exciting progress is underway on our latest development in Maidstone, we are working in partnership with Legal & General for Advisers Affordable Homes to deliver 272 new homes on the site of a former quarry. This project will help meet local housing needs, with 37 affordable homes for low-cost rent or shared ownership and 99 more affordable homes as part of the development.   The site, located off Farleigh Hill on the former Tovil Quarry, presents unique challenges—having been a ragstone quarry since Roman times and later a landfill. However, thanks to our collaboration with On Grade Earthworks and Stabilisation Ltd, we’re transforming this complex site into a vibrant new community.   Brendan Evans, Managing Director at Vistry Kent said: “Our project at Tovil is an example of partnership working at its best. The site is complex and has its challenges but working with specialist contractor On Grade Earthworks and Stabilisation Ltd and construction consultants Calford Seaden we are meeting those challenges with high efficiency.” Construction on the new homes is set to begin in January 2025, we are excited to be building a community and leaving a positive impact on the local area.

We are excited to share that we have now received planning approval to begin the first phase of 94 homes at Wolborough Grange, Newton Abbot. These high-quality, sustainable homes will range from 1 to 4 bedrooms and include shared ownership and social rent tenures, alongside a new public open space and children’s play area.   The homes will be built to the Future Homes Standard, reducing carbon emissions by 75-80% compared to current regulations by improving heating, hot water systems, and reducing heat waste. This marks the first phase of a larger 1,210-home development, with Vistry delivering 726 homes at Woodborough.   The development will support the local community by contributing more than £1.75 million towards off-site pedestrian and cycle improvements, playing pitches, bus services and a local travel plan.   Emma Colin, Regional Managing Director at Vistry Devon South West, commented: “Wolborough Grange is going to be a fantastic development of much-needed homes for the local community, the properties have been designed to sympathetically blend in with the surrounding local vernacular and we hope to start initial works early in 2025.”   We are looking forward to this development coming to life and the lasting impact on the community.

We are thrilled to announce that Beaulieu, our vibrant new district in Chelmsford being delivered with L&Q, won the ‘Great Neighbourhood’ category at The Academy of Urbanism (AoU)'s Awards last night!    The AoU Awards recognise the best and most enduring urban environments and we are very proud that Beaulieu, which will ultimately deliver up to 3,600 high quality new mixed-tenure homes, as well as extensive infrastructure and community facilities, has been selected as the winner of this category. This is testament to the exceptional vision and strong working relationship with our valued partners Chelmsford City Council, Essex County Council, Mayer Brown Ltd, DWD and The Land Trust.    Special thanks to the English poet, journalist, playwright and broadcaster Ian McMillan who wrote and performed a poem dedicated to the sustainable, long-term community that has been created at Beaulieu.
