At the last Walpole British Luxury Summit, Doug Gurr, Director of the Natural History Museum, addressed the tipping point in our oceans' acidity levels, which threatens to disrupt the oceanic food chain. The problem, Gurr explains, is "very, very fixable". "You can make an enormous difference simply by being a bit more thoughtful about where you’re operating," he assures. The Walpole British Luxury Summit 2025 will gather leaders from across the luxury sector for a day of essential insight, expert opinion and strategy-defining analysis. What will you take away from this year’s Summit on Thursday 15th May at The Londoner Hotel? Tickets are now available at our super early bird rate. This week, Reuters reported that retail executives are looking to tap into wealth in the United States due to its strong stock market and rise in cryptocurrencies, while potential tariffs from U.S. President-elect Donald Trump could support the dollar, raising Americans' purchasing power for European luxury goods. Valued at $106bn, the US luxury market is the largest in the world. A third of this total worth is located in New York. Want to better understand this key export market for British luxury goods? In March, Walpole will host a three-day trade mission to New York for members to promote their brands in the US while developing business, media and diplomatic relations. Our agenda includes: • A US luxury market briefing session, when expert speakers from J.P. Morgan will provide knowledge on the evolving political landscape and best practice for localising marketing campaigns to the US consumer. • Breakfast with Bergdorf Goodman, when its senior buying team will present the US retail outlook and discuss opportunities to work with the group. • A content creators panel, when leading US based luxury influences will discuss how British luxury brands can connect with the US consumer. The British Luxury Trade Mission to New York will take place between Tuesday 18th March and Thursday 20th March. This idea of something being made to be enjoyed for generations is what particularly distinguishes luxury craft." – Michelle Ogundehin To see craft as outmoded and stuffy is a mistake. Modern interior design must utilise time-honoured techniques and local resources to ensure the longevity of both, writes interior design journalist, Michelle Ogundehin in the current edition of the Walpole Book of British Luxury 2024/2025 – now live on-site.

Some use sunglasses. Our core is outerwear and apparel.” Burberry CEO Josh Schulman on his strategy for the British luxury icon. https://lnkd.in/eAk8BXUa
