They run a ⛔️ safe house ⛔️& often receive men who have nothing but the clothes they are standing in. A massive favour please🙏 if you have any spare unwanted small or medium men’s clothes, please, please do let me know. Collections can be arranged🚗🚙. I know peoples opinions vary, but they deal with genuine victims who are desperate for help. Thanks in advance🙏❤️

Find out more about the #modernslavery research of our colleagues Zahra Shirgholami and Andrew Smith at the University of Hull’s Wilberforce Institute: https://lnkd.in/eBXqrAnP Dr Shirgholami is lead on a project funded by the Modern Slavery and Human Rights Policy Evidence Centre, working with partners Shiva Foundation & West Midlands Anti-Slavery Network-Slavery_Network. The project seeks to increase cultural understanding of marginalised communities as an important factor in improving UK responses to modern slavery. Following interviews and focus groups with modern slavery survivors and support agencies across four UK regions, the team is currently finalising research recommendations. Dr Shirgolami said: “The team found that current UK policies concerning modern slavery and immigration can have a significant impact on the provision of support for victims of modern slavery. Professionals working in this area have to navigate through a challenging landscape of new legislation. They need to understand how the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) fits in with the Nationality and Borders Act of 2022 and now the new ‘Illegal Migration Act’. For many professionals working in this area, survivors always come first, and they never want to deviate from that. However, the new policies could limit their ability to do so.” The team are planning a meeting with practitioners to discuss the research findings.
