The World Economic Forum has concluded that existing inequalities in accessing education have only heightened since COVID-19. 📈 Demands for teachers have increased, and with less pay than ever before, it is almost impossible to allocate time to make small and long-term changes, to meet the wishes, needs and hopes of youth. 🗂️ YouthTheGap is an award-winning, social-impact consultancy and CIC determined to reimagine the possibilities of education and its curriculum. Since founding in February 2024, through our events, audits, workshops, and training, we have worked directly with schools to identify gaps and co-create solutions to fix them, taking the weight off teachers' shoulders. 🐛 We harness the power of intergenerational connection. YouthTheGap is not just a platform, we are a movement - to ensure everyone has accessible, meaningful and inclusive education. 💡What can the world of education, reimagined, look like? We are so grateful to have won the Rising Star Award 2024, up against 18 different concepts, businesses and social-enterprises. The fact the public vote was neck and neck between YouthTheGap CIC and Meaningful Futures shows not only the value of education, but the need for changes to be made - to transform the curriculum, the institution and educational pathways as we know it. Our founder no longer wants to be the youngest person in the room. We no longer want success to be viewed in the lens of the meritocracy myth; a narrative deeply entrenched in education. We no longer want to see young people failed by the education system, especially minortised groups. We no longer want teachers, leaders and the educational workforce to be burnt out, stressed, overworked and underpaid. We no longer want a generational divide between teachers and students. We want these walls, false concepts and outdated beliefs (and systems) to be deconstructed. We want to co-create solutions by taking the vulnerable step in identifying the very things that aren’t working. We want young people to be at the centre of the discourse. We want to foster intergenerational connection. We want these educational inequities, a global issue, to be addressed, and to commit to transformation to benefit everyone. We do not have to reach crisis point for this to happen. We want so many things to change, whilst celebrating what is working, and the shifts already taking place.
